Prepare your heart for Reconciliation and enter more deeply into this powerful sacrament The Pocket Guide to the Sacrament of Reconciliation is a beautiful, prayerful book by Fr. Mike Schmitz and Fr. Josh Johnson which helps Catholics enter in to the Sacrament of Reconciliation more deeply. In this small but powerful book, Fr. Mike and Fr. Josh explain: How to make an excellent examination of conscience How to identify the root cause of sins you find yourself confessing over and over again What to do if you don't feel sorry for your sins What to do if you can't think of anything to say What do to if you are afraid to confess a particular sin This book includes an examination of conscience and the text of the Act of Contrition. Its small size, page-holding ribbon, and durable Alpha Cowhide cover make it perfect to bring with you every time you go to the Sacrament of Reconciliation! See why Catholics everywhere are using this book to prepare for Reconciliation! Review: Excellent Resource and Source of Encouragement - This is an excellent book to explain why and how to partake in the sacrament of reconciliation. It includes a biblical history of why itโs important and a step-by-step guide to prepare you before and what to do during and after confession. The steps are good to follow whether itโs your first time, you havenโt been in many years, or if you go often. There are several examinations of conscious to choose from so you can use this resource each week. What makes this even more special than the guides you can find on how to attend confession, is that this one is so relatable and tells you what to do during the very real stages of life that can make confession difficult or even painful. Examples: what to do if itโs been a while, if you feel shame, if you donโt feel guilty, if you fear the priest will share your confession or remember it when they see you again, if you donโt know what to do or say, and so much more. There are also scriptural and catechism references which add to the council provided. It is written to be encouraging, uplifting, and inspiring rather which says a lot given the sacrament itself is about examining where you may have sinned. It can give one confidence to receive the sacrament of reconciliation Review: Calling Us Back to Him: His Mercy Endures Forever - This book presents confession not as a place of fear or shame, but as a loving reconciliation with Jesus, who is always calling us back to Him. It explains the sacrament with clarity, reverence, and hope, showing that Godโs mercy is freely offered to every repentant heart. As a cradle Catholic, I found it deeply meaningful to revisit these truths with both the heart of a child and a greater appreciation for the beauty, freedom, and grace found in confession. It is a thoughtful and inviting guide to the merciful heart of God.

Beautifully written
If I learned anything from this book, itโs never to let your gas tank go below a quarter of a tank. Lol. Seriously, this is a masterpiece. It goes well beyond a list of sins and transgressions that we can take to confession. It penetrates deeply into the heart and shatters the myth that God is a vengeful tyrant who wants to punish us for our sins. Instead, it reveals Him as our precious Father who loves us so deeply and created us so magnificentlyโโfearfully and wonderfully made.โ He knows precisely what we need to become fully who He created us to be. Tragically, sin prevents us from fulfilling the beautiful plan God has for each one of us. This book highlights the true gift of confession and how it restores us to the destiny God created us for.

Whether it's been 3 weeks or 30 years...
Outstanding! As a Catholic returning to the faith after 35 years, this slender book told me everything I needed to know to feel comfortable going to confession again. It's slim enough that I can also review it from time to time to make my confessions more useful to me. You don't need anything more! This book is exactly what it says it is.

Came back to the Church after a long absence but
Catechism doesnโt cover everything. Was so easy to read this and It was wonderful because I was just like a warm conversation with an understanding priest or deacon who had lots of time to answer silly questions.
