This is an excellent book to explain why and how to partake in the sacrament of reconciliation. It includes a biblical history of why it’s important and a step-by-step guide to prepare you before and what to do during and after confession. The steps are good to follow whether it’s your first time, you haven’t been in many years, or if you go often. There are several examinations of conscious to choose from so you can use this resource each week. What makes this even more special than the guides you can find on how to attend confession, is that this one is so relatable and tells you what to do during the very real stages of life that can make confession difficult or even painful. Examples: what to do if it’s been a while, if you feel shame, if you don’t feel guilty, if you fear the priest will share your confession or remember it when they see you again, if you don’t know what to do or say, and so much more. There are also scriptural and catechism references which add to the council provided. It is written to be encouraging, uplifting, and inspiring rather which says a lot given the sacrament itself is about examining where you may have sinned. It can give one confidence to receive the sacrament of reconciliation

If I learned anything from this book, it’s never to let your gas tank go below a quarter of a tank. Lol. Seriously, this is a masterpiece. It goes well beyond a list of sins and transgressions that we can take to confession. It penetrates deeply into the heart and shatters the myth that God is a vengeful tyrant who wants to punish us for our sins. Instead, it reveals Him as our precious Father who loves us so deeply and created us so magnificently—“fearfully and wonderfully made.” He knows precisely what we need to become fully who He created us to be. Tragically, sin prevents us from fulfilling the beautiful plan God has for each one of us. This book highlights the true gift of confession and how it restores us to the destiny God created us for.

Outstanding! As a Catholic returning to the faith after 35 years, this slender book told me everything I needed to know to feel comfortable going to confession again. It's slim enough that I can also review it from time to time to make my confessions more useful to me. You don't need anything more! This book is exactly what it says it is.

Catechism doesn’t cover everything. Was so easy to read this and It was wonderful because I was just like a warm conversation with an understanding priest or deacon who had lots of time to answer silly questions.

This is exactly what I wanted and needed. It’s well written and reads like a conversation. Extremely helpful and encouraging.
