Contour 3321 Waterproof Case for Contour GPS and Contour Camera Mounts - Black

Used this on my wake board at the beach. It took a beating over a week and stayed on and watertight. I did make sure the adapter and mounting plate and this case were all lanyard-ed to the board but none came loose. I also took the precaution of putting a strong wide rubber band over the front locking mechanism and one around the clip to the board... don't know if required though. My Contour GPS model functioned perfectly and I had no problems with switching on or off with the case in place. (I did wash in fresh water after each day's use, with particular attention to the slide). One surprise was that the microphone picked up wave noise and voices very well while in the case... particularly my comments on a wipeout! :) ) This was the Clear/Black case which I think the manufacturer has improved over the Clear/Yellow one. My grandson took it out with the facemask attachment and tooled around on snorkel... he thought it was great fun, had no problems with weight and balance, and did get some good video of fish.

With the camera, this sucker's too heavy for spearfishing which I bought it for no other reason after seeing it in a diving magazine. It's made to attach to your face mask strap but it's just too bulky. GoPro is way smaller and lighter which I ended up buying after selling this one.

I got the contour gps because i was looking for a side mounted helmet cam with a h2o resistant case that I could use on the Tough Mudder obsticle course. Upon testing, I found that although the case prevented any water leaks, the rail system wasn't very durable. The black plastic rail on the case that atache to the various mounts is very weak and won't withstand any hard impacts. The Contour 3321 Waterproof Case for my Contour GPS camera, works great for me! I fly RC float-planes and use this case to protect my camera from water crashes. The sliding record switch is magnetic and it works great. I've read that it didn't work very good, but for me, works every-time. I have had the camera recording out of the case and when I slid the camera into the case, it can shut off your camera record off, if your not careful where the switch is on the case. When the camera is mounted on the plane, it's hard to see if it's recording, but that's because the location of the camera makes it hard to see. It is a little heavy adding weight to the plane, but the plane is big enough to handle the weight. For other use, it's great. I haven't tried it under water yet, except for one time when I crashed my plane and the camera was under water for a good 8 minutes before retrieving the plane, it was protected very will. I don't fly over water without it! It's highly recommend If you video around water, RC float planes, boats, jet skis, underwater play! Oh, it also muffles wind sound when flying at high speeds! I love it! :)

I purchased this case and took my contourGPS diving at isla mujeres in Cancun. The enclosure worked perfectly. I got some superb video for both dives. The dives were shallow around 20ft max. The next day we took a trip to Cozumel and dived the Santa Rosa reef. The camera flooded by the time we reached 40ft....It ruined my $350 camera. So beware! The case will work in a pool but it is certainly not useful for diving. Unfortunately there were no specifications provided for this enclosure so I had to learn the expensive way. I hope you read and heed.

I used this scuba diving at 40 feet, worked good. The camera stayed dry :) The power switch on the top is completely useless, I'm not sure how it would ever work with my Contour GPS HD. The external power switch looks like they intended magnetic activation for power, I just turn it on and put it in the case. Video can be edited.

Best investment for my contour roam camera. I like that it's buoyant, and that I can tether it to me while I snorkel/scuba dive. Simple, easy to use latch to open and close it, but make sure to wash/rinse/dry the switch on the top, or it'll get harder and harder to slide, and eventually be useless!

Nice build, but susceptible to impact damage at the connection rails. Take away: Think twice before mounting to mast head on crazy windsurfing days...). Great image quality. No problems with water tightness. A more secure latching system and an easier to use lanyard attachment point would be nice. Other reviewers complained about the latch opening and allowing camera to flood. Believing in redundant safety systems, I always use Gorilla tape to lock down the latch. Problem solved! The slide switch works well, but tends to get a little gummed up if you allow saltwater to dry in it. Flush well after use.
