Can this be kept in a pool indefinitely ? How easy is it to inflate and how often would it need inflating?

Takes less than 5 minutes to inflate. Shouldn’t need frequent re-inflating. You don’t NEED to, but It is recommended to take it out of the pool when you're not using it. It weighs close to 10 pounds and is super easy to move around. It should be fine if you keep it in the pool, but like anything if you keep it in chlorine for long periods of time things go wrong.

Does this have to be tied down or can it just float in a pool?

It does need to be tied down in order to get out of the pool, otherwise it will float away from the side if the pool. You can leave it loose if you are using it for your dog to float on. Mine is tied down.

would this work to get a lab on a boat at an ocean beach with waves?

This product can be used for all swimming environments including off the boat, the dock, or in the pool; Use its built in D-Rings & two 8-foot tie-ropes to secure your pup plank anywhere you go. The XL product is rated for use with dogs up to 100lbs.

The Amazon details are confusing. Show 200 bs. The details show 120 lbs. the written details say the XL is for 200 lbs. which is this one?

I got the XL which works for Standard Poodle, Spinger Spaniel and Labrador. It’s the length that is necessary for the larger dogs. It’s very sturdy and well made
