I use these for feral cats in freezing temps. I thought they’d last longer than they do, but it’s better than nothing. I wasn’t expecting them to be so hard, but I suppose that’s necessary to ensure they are safe (chew proof). I’d buy them again as I don’t have an option to have an electric heating source, but they don’t stay warm for several hours like I thought they would. I would recommend buying the three together so you can rotate them. You cannot reheat them until fully cooled down.

I am a wildlife rehabber. These are great for warming injured or small babies that have fallen from nest etc.. Note; If you use for a baby that is helpless and can't move off the pad on their own... PLEASE follow the warming instructions to a "T" as you can cause great harm if too hot or used improperly. You can, and should, warm with the cover on. Also, microwave wattage time instructions are listed on the instruction slip of paper...read this and know your microwave wattage....I actually had to call the place where I purchased my microwave to learn that mine was. If used properly this product is literally an animal/bird saver. Thank you.

I've tried several other similar heating pads and this is still the best product. The soft gel pads eventually leak and have a funny smell that never seems to go away. The less expensive brands of the hard pads tend to warp quickly and / or don't hold heat as long.

I have a cat that stays in a shed, and every day I heat this up for 4 minutes and partially wrap it in fleece. I have old pillows and fleece all around, but with this cold winter, I worried about her. This worked so well, and gave me peace of mind. I even heated one up for my Mom to ride and sit in the car. She put her feet on it! It gets pretty hot, but you can still handle it after heating. It is a disc about the size of a Frisbee, only thicker and heavier. It has its own fleece cover that closes with velcro. The instructions to heat are for different powers of microwaves, from 1 min. to 5, at full power. So simple - then it releases the heat over the next few hours. Like a much better hot water bottle. And no worry over electric cords or batteries.

I really wanted a plug in heat pad but my husband is very fearful of anything that might be a fire hazard. So I got these to put in the bunny hutch. So far it's not something they have chewed on as it is very thick plastic. They may have nibbled a little on the fleece covering. However one of the heat pads developed an indentation (like the beginning of a melted area) and the other one developed the beginning of a burned area. I followed the exact directions for my microwave. Here is what I now do...I turn it over halfway through the heating. I have to heat it for 7 minutes. So I flip it after 3 1/2 minutes. Also you have to make sure your microwave plate is spinning properly. I think if you have any hot spots in your microwave it will cause the melting issue.

Not really warm enough for Albertan winters. They claim to stay warm for 10 hours, and I'm sure that wouldn't be a problem in a different climate, but it was -15° here the other day (about half as cold as it gets here during proper winter) and it was already cold to the touch after two hours.
