We made a great choice when we got this to make our usual Christmas rolls. We had no fear of running out of product since the can held plenty for two rolls. Great taste and texture and it holds a little more surprises which adds to the taste, It's a great product and we will buy it again,. Thank You! This is excellent starter to make makowce. You can use it by itself but it is very sweet and it's missing the the occasional real poppy seed but this is ready to go. I like to mix it with my fresh poppy seeds to give more flavor. On the top of that I add walnuts, raisins and rum. But make your own experiments to see what will work the best for you.

I was looking for canned poppy to make poppy seed rolls. This worked, but… The color is brown rather than black. It tasted like poppy but with the added flavor or orange zest. It wasn’t off putting unless you bit into an actual piece of orange, then it’s a little strong. I felt like the sweetness was fine. Not too sweet and didn’t need more. It was not the simple slightly sweet poppy filling I was looking for but it wasn’t bad. I could taste poppy but not as strong and clear as I wish it was. I would use this again if I can’t find what I am looking for. It is a big can and it was way more than enough to use entire box of Pepperidge farm puff pastry. That with egg wash brushed over is all I used. Bake 20 minutes at 395 degrees. Yummo.

Very difficult to find reasonably priced poppy seed for baking. It does have a slight orange taste and the can clearly states that on the label. Much less expensive that other brands if you can use a large size can.

Good flavor, no high fructose corn sweetener added, but a little drier than I like my filling and it does have raisins and other dried fruits so it’s good, but definitely not as good as home made filling. But if you don’t want to go thru the work of grinding your own poppyseed, this is definitely a good go to.
