First, some reviewers incorrectly said this was flimsy. It is not. While the metal is a bit thin, it is no thinner than more expensive brands. And this one is STAINLESS STEEL (picture 2) which should last a long time, not the painted carbon steel which tends to rust out in a few years.Other reviewers mention the poor instructions. They are correct. The instructions (first picture) that come with it are terrible and some of the details are inconsistent between the online videos and these instructions.I assembled it on my kitchen table (pictures 3 & 4). Putting it together was somewhat tedious, but easy. If this will be on a roof where people can't easily see details, I'd recommend putting all the bolt heads on the inside, pushing them through to the outside. This makes a few things easier. But if it will be low and visible (unusual) then you can put the bolt heads on the outside.The only hard part was figuring out how to attach it to the chimney. This will depend on the size of the chimney compared to the cap. I included some pictures (last 4) of how I attached mine.

It seems flimsy when you take it out of the package but is very strong once assembled. I used locktite blue on all the bolts because that's what I had handy. But I'd recommend using locktite red since you won't be taking it apart in the future. If you don't use locktite and torque these bolts down tightly they'll probably vibrate loose after a year or two and the top will blow off in a windstorm. You'll probably have to drill out larger holes in on the mounting flanges to attach to your chimney if you're not using concrete screws. If I were you I wouldn't use the screws provided to attach it to your chimney as they aren't the right type and they're too short. Go and buy some proper anchors and a masonry drill bit that matches the anchors you plan to use. Install instructions are on youtube, one of the pictures in the description or on the company website. It's pretty easy to assemble but it takes a good 40 minutes if you do it correctly. Ideally you'll have a phillips head screwdriver, 8mm gear wrench and some locktite red.

Be aware that this requires assembly - check the video, the instructions with the package are sparse. The 8x8 unit is pretty much exactly 8x8 - no margin - my 8" flue is about 8 1/8" so the unit was a little small. Unfortunately they don't appear to have a 9x9. Other than that, unit was very well packed and the quality seemed good.

We have a home that was built on 1985. We struggled to find a cap that would fit perfectly. We needed up ordering this and it works really great. He helps keep out rain and critters. It helps get a suction from our fire and filter the smoke outside. It also looks great on top of our house. It was a great buy for the price and we would buy it again. It was also very easy to put on and came with the screws that you will need. Very lightweight also.

I spent a lot of time on installation . No instruction. After installed, looks nice. No rust after few heavy rain.

Looks great fits perfectly

The product came with the worst instructions I had ever read. The pieces were sharp and dangerous. Unless you wear cut proof gloves and sleeves I would suggest you do not even attempt putting it together. I had extra parts for some areas and missing parts for others.Again I must stress that it was dangerous to put this together and had limited instruction with no parts list.Also did not fit the chimney size advertised.

Facile à installer

Excellent product. Easy to assemble. Instructions included with product were confusing and unintelligible. Had to go the company website for better direction. Otherwise, the cap looks great and is solid.

To get it to sit on the flue I had to turn the flanges in and the I could only glue it on. I used pl premium for glue cleaning the surface by sanding it. If you want to remove the top later I suggest gluing the 4 nuts that hold down the top. Then the screws can be removed whenever you want
