Unreal: Season 1 [DVD + Digital]

Love this show!
If you've ever watched reality television, this show, which shows behind-the-scenes of a reality dating show, will fascinate you. It's fiction, but one of the creators used to work with the Bachelor franchise, so I bet there is a lot of truth to the storylines. Season one was the best with seasons two and three close runner ups. Season four is watchable but nowhere near as good as the first three.

UnREAL: Not To Be Missed By Bachelor & Reality TV Fans!!!
I, (and to be fair it's actually we, because I watch this with my partner,) am really loving this show. In fact we binge watched the first three episodes on Amazon Fire, which made us crazy because we wanted more. I'm sure you must have read the synopsis, but basically this is a semi-realistic, behind-the-scenes look at the production of a reality show like The Bachelor. In fact they have one of their producers (From the Bachelor or Bachelorette, sorry I don't recall offhand,) on hand to keep it realistic. There are 2 great female leads. The embittered, seemingly unfeeling exec. producer, actively manipulating everything and anything for ratings, a hard core super driven producer who has been having an affair with her married executive producer, (Fans of Entourage will remember her as Ari's long suffering wife.)The other female lead is an exhausted, emotional, (bipolar?) woman, with a conscience, who despite an on-set meltdown over a love affair gone terribly wrong last season, has been brought back to do what she does so well, (but that is hurting her) which is to manipulate the contestants for drama and ratings. There's so much more I want to say but I don't want to overburden you or take away your own fun at discovering how truly awful some of these shows can be behind-the-scenes. Jac

Excellent writing, beautiful acting, set in totally depraved environment of reality TV
This show is very well written, it's quite addictive! I've heard somewhere that the reason why nobody has done a scripted show about behind the scenes of either a reality show or a porn movie yet is simply that those worlds are just so godawful. And watching unReal justifies every word of that statement. It is a horrible, horrible, environment where people manipulate each other, deceive each other, the value system seems to be driven only by ratings and enhancement of one's career. And yet, what keeps this show so entertaining is that the same characters who we could so easily judge (and we should) for their actions, are also very complex, with great back stories. And they are beautifully acted. Quin and Rachel (Constance Zimmer and Shiri Appleby, respectively) are wonderful, awful, human, totally believable and embodying their parts to the point that one can't take eyes off of them. It's definitely one of the best shows I've seen lately, and I say that even though the whole time I've kept thinking: 'That world is so horrid!' I can't wait for season 2.

An entetaining and fascinating fictional account of what goes on behind the scenes of reality romance
As a Bachelor/Bachelorette fan and blogger as well as someone who grew up in L.A. and has worked in the entertainment industry, I can tell you this show is probably more real than any of the shows in the Bachelor franchise. However, you don't have to be a fan of the franchise to enjoy this show. The writing is phenomenal and Shiri Appleby is absolutely fantastic as the morally ambiguous feminist who's turned to the dark side by using her feminine wiles to manipulate the female cast of "Everlasting" - the thinly-veiled, fictional equivalent of "The Bachelor" - into getting the dramatic emotion-filled footage that has this nation hooked on ABC's most popular show and its multitude of spinoffs. UnREAL is intense and it is dark and if you buy into the reality of reality TV, prepared to have your eyes opened. If you can handle it, you will be entertained.

Settle in for a fascinating behind-the-scenes tour of the dark side of reality TV!
This show is set behind the scenes of a network reality TV show called "Everlasting" which is, ahem, remarkably similar to ABC's "The Bachelor." The show primarily focuses on the producers, showrunners and crew as they manipulate the Bachelor and the Bachelorette contestants to bring us viewers content exciting enough for us to tune in.The show is well-written and well-cast and I'm glad to hear it's been greenlighted for a second season. If you like (and even if you dislike) reality TV, and particularly those shows whose format is to cut contestants off from the outside world and offer a prize (e.g. Bachelor/ette, Big Brother, Amazing Race, Real World, ANTM, etc.) then you may enjoy (or not enjoy) the demasking of what occurs behind the scenes. You'll be left hoping that this portrayal is darker than reality...but wondering if it isn't.

A surprise gem of a show
I was skeptical about this show when I heard about it. It's a Lifetime show about a Bachelor-esque program. How good could that be? But then I kept seeing them mention it on Pajiba, my number one source for all things pop culture reviews, and they raved about the talent of the actors, the depth of the characters, particularly the female ones, and the insane crazeballs storylines that keep you guessing and often shouting WHAT. I'd never even seen an episode of "The Bachelor" when I saw this show, but I can't watch it now without imagining the mad machinations that might be going on behind the scenes like on UnREAL. Such a fun show, and one I can't help but refer to everyone I know and to reatch often.

Addictive Television About Ridiculous Television.
As a TV producer--although never a Reality Show producer, thank my lucky stars, this show is guilty pleasure since it's about all the techniques and manipulations that I had to avoid. The sheer incomprehensible fact of beautiful smart women lining up to be judged by a handsome but pretty brainless man is stunning and the tricks and betrayals that is the daily work of the producers is simply incredible.Except, for me, it's not incredible. I have probably seen someone pull every one of these tricks at one point or another or fought to keep it from happening under my watch.Oh, just watch it. You'll be addicted.

Great series ok release
First of all the series is 5 stars and if you haven't watched it you should. I have dropped 2 stars for this release as for some reason they have decided to cut some of the bad language. I mean this literally they will be halfway through a conversation and one word will be cut out. I originally saw the series on Amazon Prime and am sure that this wasn't the case for that release. Weird thing is nothing else seems cut and its not all the bad language either its just the odd word and its done in such a way that you know exactly what the word is.

Reality TV , is more fake than scripted TV. And what a producer can get someone to do for 15 of fame.
Excellent. Yet disturbing. I don't watch reality TV. But the producers are master manipulator that will go to any lengths to take drama. Even if they really destroy people to get it.really liked the first season. Second season just started and taking a break. Way to dark and really don't like anyone.

Watchable.
Not as good as I was expecting possibly because I didn't bond with many of the characters.
