Drill-Free Magnetic Safety Cabinet and Drawer Locks (3 Keys and 8 Locks)

I don’t often write reviews but I thought this would be helpful for anyone considering buying these magnetic safety locks. First off, it’s a genius product! It’s absolutely necessary for baby proofing.I wasn’t sure which brand to buy so I bought both - Nexpa and Mindful Mom - as they appear to be quite similar (and they both come with 3 keys which is crucial as I’m always misplacing things especially with young kids around!). I bought both packs as I wanted to make sure to outfit my whole house, because there are hazards even in the laundry room and it’s better to be safe than sorry.They are not the same product at all!! Comparing the 2 products, ONE BIG DIFFERENCE - THE LATCH ON NEXPA’S IS USELESS!I couldn’t install ANY of the Nexpa locks in any of the drawers in my house! The narrow design of the latch made it impossible for it to fit in my cabinets because it needed more than an inch more space than the Mindful Mom latch. AND if that wasn’t bad enough, when I finally managed to find a cabinet they would work on they were really tricky to install because you have to make sure the lock matches exactly with the latch and if you get it wrong then the tape on the back becomes useless. I returned the product and I bought another one from Mindful Mom.Mindful Mom’s latch is convenient, easy to install and the product works great! It’s also great value and makes for a great gift because the packaging is beautiful. I highly recommend this product!

I've used this product for several months and recently ordered a second pack to install on higher drawers that my child can now reach.Pros:1) Can be installed on just about any type of cabinet or drawer without a drill, using the stickers provided. Follow the instructions for prepping the surfaces for the stickers and measure and mark where you will need to stick the locks before you install them. It's also important that you let the stickers set for the proper amount of time per the instructions before you use the locks (just disable the locks while the stickers are setting);2) Locks can be turned on and off via a switch on the bottom of the lock;3) Set comes with 3 keys, so if you lose a key you can still get in, or in my case I use the locks in three different rooms, so have a key to keep in each room;4) So far these locks have kept my one year old out of my cupboards and drawers.Cons:1) An adult pulling on the locked drawer or cupboard will pull the lock off; the stickers are strong enough for a small child, but not an adult;2) You need to line up the lock and the plate onto which it connects just right, so that they will attach to each other correctly when the drawer or cupboard is closed. I installed one just a little off and the lock does work, but I have to push on it a little more with the magnetic key to unlock it and I have push on the door hard when I close it and make sure the lock engages as it doesn't always lock on the first try. I also ruined another lock by sticking it in the wrong spot and having to remove it;Overall these locks are a good solution for places where you can't or don't want to drill holes in your cabinets and drawers. I think $11.99 is a great price for them. I find that they do work well for my purposes. I use them to keep the baby out of stuff that is a hassle to keep picking up (i.e. my drawer of clean dishtowels, pots and pans, etc.). If you want a stronger magnetic lock that an adult can't pull off, then you should probably get the ones you install with screws.

It is very hard to get the placement correct and once we did, the adhesive didn't stick well. I will be returning the second package of these I bought and I was really disappointed with them.

It took all of 5 seconds to realize the adhesive on these is not strong enough to stand up to a toddler. We ended up screwing them in. Also, the magnet is t strong enough, but luckily we have another magnet from a different brand of these that is stronger so we that one.

These are pretty slick little safety locks. They do work as advertised by waving the magnet over the area where the lock is. We installed them about a month ago when our little boy started walking and was able to get into the kitchen and bathroom cabinets. They installed very easily. Being able to install them without drilling holes in your cabinets is a real plus. However, after about a week my wife asked me to replace all of them with the standard push down style. So before you buy these consider these pros and cons.Pros: No drilling, easy quick install, they do work as advertised to keep the cupboards secure.Cons: If magnet is not placed directly over the lock it will not activate to open. This can be annoying when you are in a rush. You need two hands to open the cupboard;one to hold the magnet over the lock and another to open the cupboard which is impossible when you are holding a crying baby. Not everyone puts the magnet back in the designated place so it is frustrating to have to find the magnet tool every time you need to open a cabinet. We found ourselves just leaving the cabinets open that we used frequently ie the trash under the sink which totally defeats the purpose of safety locks. This one is kind of petty but worth mentioning. When the magnet tool is dropped, it pops apart and the four pieces have to be reassembled(we ended up having to glue them all to prevent this)
