Fashion Drawing, Second Edition: Illustration Techniques for Fashion Designers (Perfect book for Fashion Students)

I wanted to learn the basics of fashion drawing in a hurry and ordered 5 books. This was at least double the price of the others and the only one I am keeping. It is a very comprehensive book that includes history of fashion and fashion drawing as well as techniques with beautiful illustrations. Mostly it has given me the confidence just to draw my own style. A lovely reference book to have.

This book seems to be the ultimate in fashion design education. It is very detailed and includes a lot of history about fashion. I would highly recommend it as one of the key fashion illustration books to have in your library. It may actually be the only one you truly need.

This book is stellar! I have 2 other books on fashion drawing (“9 Heads” and “Figure Drawing for Fashion Design”) that I also love, but what makes this one my favorite is that it includes a variety of drawings done by different students/designers/illustrators so that you can develop your own style. If I could only have one book on fashion drawing, it would be this one! I’ve tried to include as many pages as possible in the video I’m attaching (you can tell how much I use this book because of all the sticky tabs marking certain pages), because there is nothing worse than contemplating buying a book online when you can’t see the content inside. This book has a great blend of basic "how to" information and fantastic inspiration. Of all of the fashion illustration books I own, this one is by far the best. There are step by step instructions, assignment suggestions, and large illustrations to work from. While they explain the differences between various head to body ratios, I believe most of the examples are 9 head high figures. I prefer 10 head high figures but it hasn't been difficult applying their info to a differently proportioned figure. Tracing paper is recommended for many of the activities, so that can be a good idea to purchase when you buy this book.

Un gran book

I have been trying to draw fashion illustrations for months from YouTube with no understanding and videos were too fast. However, after receiving this excellent book that shows there is no wrong way to draw fashion illustrations, I was blown away and unafraid to draw, and this book is so detailed to drawing all genders, kids, and adults, and clothes. Also techniques are covered even for digital. I highly recommend this book for those struggling trying to find information to piece together, or just for anyone who wants to learn to draw illustrations for all mediums, you won't regret it!

This is an absolutely lovely book! It explains fashion, has templates, teaches drawings and proportions, etc. To me, it is one of the most complete books I've encountered. My hat is off to those who worked hard creating it! Ta Da!

This book has helped me tremendously!

Very comprehensive fashion illustration book. I like that it has many examples of illustration styles and that it covers fashion illustration for women, men, children and teenagers. It is a modern book with good examples from contemporary illustrators.

I teach fashion drawing and this is easily the best what-it-is and how-to book I own on the subject. I bought it because one of my favourite fashion illustrators features on the cover, expecting it to be more a showcase of contemporary illustration, but what it actually is is a rigorous and amazingly comprehensive guide to the different functions of and techniques involved in fashion illustration. I have recommended this book to other tutors as well as to students.
