Very effective
The large yellow square bait trays seem to work better than the older design with the little brass hook to place the bait. There is the rare trap that is hypersensitive (will snap shut with the most minute stimulus, even gently placing it on the ground after baiting the trap) and the rare dud trap that won't spring even though the bait is taken, but 9 times out of 10 or greater, these traps do the job, and effectively - almost always it snaps onto and breaks the critter's neck.

Fix for hard to set
Initially I had a hard time getting copper pin to stay seated in yellow tab, even without bait. I tried roughing up the yellow tabs pin slot with a small file. That did not work. The slot's left side is labeled firm. Forget using the right side of slot. Then I used a electrical wire stripper to pinch some groves in the tip of the copper pin. This worked and now trap sets well and I am rapidly decreasing the mouse problem in garage and the woodpiles they hang out in. Be sure to put bait in the slot provided and not on top of the tab. Overall, these seem less reliable then older versions. But after the fix, they work fine.

Not all traps have imprints wood stream corp.
Not all 12 traps have imprints wood stream corp only 2 have imprints woodstream. The original mouse trap imprint on 10 out of 12 traps are difficult to set up. They don’t have the R circle like the woodstream ones.

The horror
The traps are old school and work 99% of the time. But darn it, I had to go dateline on a little mouse after this trap failed in epic proportions and did not trigger until the mouse had its right leg snapped at the hip. Now, I’m a combat veteran and seen my fair share of gore/ ugliness but I had to put the mouse out of his misery as he was trying to chew off his own leg. Well anyways long story short and after a bottle of bleach to clean up the blood splatter, I’m waiting for Lester Holt to interrogate me on next weeks Dateline as I had to put the little guy out of his own person hell and now I feel like his personal demon. May god rest his soul. I am transitioning to less than Lethal options at this point. Not their fault I left a bag of trash in the garage on a snowy day and wanted food and shelter in my garage. I cannot commit mouse genocide in my garage like originally planned. Rest easy Cheesy!!
