Soundcore by Anker Q30 Hybrid Active Noise Cancelling Headphones(Renewed)

This is the third model of headphones I've gotten from the Soundcore brand (I also have the Liberty 4 NCs and Q20s), and they are fantastic. I've tried several other over-ear style headphones at the same price point, and the Q30s have always come out on top. My last go-to over-ear headphones were the Q20s, and these are a noticeable step up for really not much more money. The battery life is excellent. I feel like I never have to charge them. I always have the noise cancellation turned on, so I imagine if you were using them without that, they'd be the legit energizer bunny of the headphone world. These don't have the newest bluetooth tech, but they can be connected to different devices at the same time. If I'm listening to spotify at work on my computer, I can just move right over to my phone when I'm walking around. No unpairing and repairing. Obviously not a necessity, but I am realllly spoiled on that capability now. I got this pair (blue, renewed) to replace my old pair that I lost while traveling (pink, renewed). I had the pink pair for over a year and wore them pretty much every day, and they still looked and worked as good as new the whole time. The zipper case that comes with the headphones helps protect them in your backpack or bag, but a lot of the time I just folded them down and tossed them in my bag. Even with that added wear and tear, they held up like champs! No cracking or wearing out in the ear pads, either. The controls on the actual headphones are pretty straightforward. I don't typically use them, but they work as expected and aren't overly cumbersome to access. The noise cancellation on these is great – helped, I imagine, by the over-ear style that provides some mechanical noise isolation. They perform really well on planes (for the constant, droning background sounds) and actually perform surprisingly well for blocking out sound and chatter at places like the office or a coffee shop. The only other headphones I've tried that had better noise cancelling were $300+ Bose headphones. The long-wear comfort is another thing I love about these. They don't feel too tight or hot. I can comfortably wear them while wearing my glasses, too. Out the box, I think the sound quality is great – solid, rich bass and generally well rounded sound. I have used the equalizer app for some specific endeavors, so that's a nice option to have on deck. I have recommended this model to friends and I will keep doing so. Super pleased with the performance for a price that feels actually reasonable.

Late in life diagnosed neurodivergent adult here, and never had I ever tried noise cancelling headphones. I do use Loop earplugs to block sound sometimes, so I thought why not try noise cancelling headphones? Our house is on a budget so I couldn't spend too much, but I also didn't want to end up wasting money on a cheap pair of headphones that I wouldn't end up liking or using. I finally ended up settling on these. Unfortunately the first pair of headphones I received didn't work right. BUT I easily started the return/replacement process, and I received the replacement before I even returned the first pair. It was nice to be able to make sure the first pair was faulty and that it wasn't the headphones in general that felt... wrong on my ears. Fortunately the second pair was *chefs kiss* SO much better and I have basically been living in them since. (which also speaks to the battery life because I have had these for about two weeks and have only had to charge them once) They have fairly decent passive noise cancelling, active noise cancelling is really neat (you can connect to the soundcore app so you can adjust that, plus there's an equalizer in the app to adjust sound too), and the transparency mode is my absolute favourite. Just quickly touching the right ear for a second switches it to transparency mode so you can tune into your surroundings without stopping your audio or taking the headphones off--and I absolutely love that, as a parent and someone who is just on high alert a lot. The microphone works well for phone calls, I've been told that the sound is clear. I like that you can connect to two devices, at the same time, so I can use my Nintendo Switch and just switch over to my phone if I get a call. Pairing them was fairly straightforward. Oh, and they come with a case so you can travel with them too, and I'm sure I'm forgetting about other things I like about these. Honestly my only "complaint" is that I have a small head and the smallest size setting still concerns me that they might fly off my head if I turn too quickly--because they definitely make threats to fly off my head when I "headbang" even a little to my music. TLDR? I'm no expert but these are absolutely quality for the price point. Just be wary not to shake them off if you have a small head.

Update 03/2023 Shortly after I updated my review, I decided to return the original set of headphones and subsequently received a replacement set. The replacement headphones have not missed a beat and I no longer have a problem when talking on the phone. So, everything that I said in my original feedback applies. I will however keep the rating as a 4-star rating and keep my bottom line assessment. "Worth Every Penny." I am changing my original rating of 5 stars to 4 stars for two reasons. I was on an extended phone call today and after an hour or so of talk time, the voice communications sound became gargled/intelligible. I turned off the headphones and the sound was loud and clear from my phone, so the problem is with the headphones. Also, I have a Bluetooth transmitter and receiver adapter that I use to watch my non-Bluetooth TV with headphones. This set of headphones will not connect to the adapter. The Soundcore software has a list of what these headphones can connect to, and my Bluetooth transmitter and receiver is not on the list. No problem with my Bose. So, I will continue to use my Bose headphones for the Bluetooth transmitter/receiver connection. These headphones have what I was originally looking for in headphones, so, I still say that they are worth every penny. Original Review Below These headphones are worth every penny I spent. The sound quality is comparable to that of my Bose QC 35 headphones. No, I won’t dare put them ahead of Bose, but for the price difference, the Soundcore Anker Life Q30 Headphones are a real winner. There are various sound options, so you are bound to get the sound quality you enjoy based on the genre of music that you prefer. And, the Noise Cancellation is very good. Not as close to my Bose as the sound quality is, but good enough. I can’t hear my bathroom blower running nor my garage door open when I have Noise Cancellation on. Now, there is a caveat, I have to turn the headphones up to at least mid volume level, which isn’t too high. It is about the same level as Bose, but you can hear some residual sound with Soundcraft when my bathroom blower is on. No residual sound with Bose. What is really remarkable is I can still hear my music while riding my 33 HP Zero Turn mower, with the prior caveat, turn volume up. But, I have to turn my Bose up too and have residual sound with both while riding the Zero Turn, which is fine for safety purposes. Additionally, the Soundcore headphones battery is very good, as advertised. I’m using the headphones for the fourth day and I’m still at 80 percent power. Probably 14 cumulative hours of usage over 4 days. When the Noise Cancellation is engaged, the sound appears flat, so I boost the base to eliminate the flat sound. There is an option to do this along with various other adjustment options via the Soundcore App. By the way, you do have to download the Soundcore App to get the Headphones to work. I have an android Smartphone and had no issues at all. The Bluetooth range is just as good as my Bose Headphones. And these comfortable headphones fit over my ears perfectly. This is the best inexpensive set of Headphones I've ever owned. Therefore, I highly recommend them and rate them 5-stars overall.

So surprised of their quality! I just needed a second pair, but these have been great! Good connectivity, nice weight, good appearance. They fit great and very adjustable. Here’s the big deal. Fantastic sound quality! I mean, I have paid four times as much. Would recommend. I work out with these and they do great.

It’s been 2 years and I use them almost everyday day. They are amazing. Super easy to connect. I use it on planes for noise cancellation and let me tell you crying babies you can barely hear.

Edit 2: I’ve now had these headphones over 2 years, and the sound quality is just as nice! I am looking at getting another set from this brand though because the ear muff and head support pieces are starting to flake and tear from the daily use (pictures included). You can see where I tried to sew the ear muffler back together before it ripped again. Original review: I really really like these headphones for their price!! The buttons on the earpieces are cohesive enough to remember which has which functionality AND listening to music is very clear! I tried out the noise canceling feature and I much prefer it to the normal mode because it muffles a lot of the static-y noise. Overall, good headphones!! Edit 1: I’ve had these headphones for a while now and have been able to use it to its fullest. The battery life is phenomenal!! I’m still in school and am sensitive to loud and busy public settings and these headphones have saved me so much headache that I didn’t even know was being caused by all the noise. Things are noticeably quieter, though not completely silent which is really helpful when I still need to pay attention to my surroundings, but just can’t handle the intensity of the noise. I don’t leave the house without these headphones! Almost forgot to mention but the sound quality is really nice also! Paired with the noise cancelling feature, it’s a lot easier to become immersed in music or videos (which is what I normally use them for). So yeah saying again, overall these are really really good headphones and I am so glad I got them.

The EQ is great. Headphones sounded extremely bass heavy out of the box. The EQ allowed me to tune in the sound I wanted. With EQ, the sound is fantastic! I can save multiple custom EQ settings, for different types of music etc. This is a great feature. It seems the great EQ is disabled when the headphones are wired. This is a BIG deal for me. The headphones are a huge disappointment for me without the custom EQ. The headphones feel a bit fragile. It could be because I value my dollar and have read where the Q30 headphones plastic will break. So, I could keep the headphones and use only with Bluetooth and EQ, and be very careful with them. I have to determine if they are worth the price. My Monoprice $29 wireless, ANC headphones have worked flawless for 5 years (with a lot of physical abuse). Maybe I should find a great EQ that works with my music service. After listening a few days, with the Q30 EQ, I love the way these headphones sound! They sound GREAT!!! (But only with the built in EQ and bluetooth.)

I've used these for about 3 years now. I wasn't sure about buying a refurbished item, but I've been pleased with these headphones. They're comfortable in the sound quality is decent to my ear, though I'm not an audiophile. One of the ear pads has started to split after several years, so I wish these ear pads were replaceable but at this price point that's not typical. So overall I've been pleased with the purchase and I even bought a pair for my brother and he enjoys using them as well.

Generally, I am satisfied... BUT my headphones sometimes just switch off. I've been observing this for a few weeks now, and it started right at the beginning. It's not a matter of charging, and it happens when they are just in noise-cancelling. I'm hoping the seller can shed some light on this, if not I'll have to send them back — unfortunately, as I don't like to send things back and produce more garbage.
