Dorman 742-257 Power Window Motor Compatible with Select Lincoln Models

If you have an old Town Car you will need one of these sooner or later. The double power window - main glass and vent glass - will wear out the track over time (26 years) and create binding points. This will cause too much force on the plastic window motor gears and the will strip out. You will know this happened when the window will go down part ways and stop, then you push or pull up/down and it goes a bit further and stops . . . . etc.Important!! Dorman does not make replacement gears for this specific model of window motor. You will need to replace the entire thing.The good news is it is really easy to replace the entire motor. At the bottom center of the door there may already be three holes, if so this is a 15 minute job, most of that fussing with the door card. If there are no holes you need to drill them big enough to get a socket inside. There is plenty of steel here, make the holes a little big.My 88 TC did not but some windows are under a LOT of spring pressure that releases with a lot of force when you pull the motor. Be smart.
