It is great for heating large pieces of plumbing fittings. I used it to melt 9 pounds of lead for casting. This torch is a heat beast. Easy to use and high quality. Much more heat than a normal Map gas torch. I have not tried it on small plumbing fittings so I won't go there. If you need a lot of heat fast this torch is the ticket to get the job done.

Bought this a year ago for use with a 20lb. propane tank + adaptor to preheat larger steel pieces for welding. Have not used it a lot until recently but have found it works well. Currently using it on rebar. I suspect it is made "overseas", which may explain some of the negative reviews as QC can be iffy from such sources but quality of mine is good. Some have commented that it tends to blow out. I have noticed this sometimes when on full but have rarely needed to really crank it up. Based on my use, I can recommend it.

Absolutely, trash does not get above. 950° f on mapp gass. Constantly goes out if you turn it up too high. Belt loop keeps falling off mapp gas bottles. For 40 bucks it's totally trash!

I had a torch that directly screwed on the propane tank until now. But it was difficult to move around things. This torch is excellent in terms of being able to use in tighter areas and off angles. The heat adjustment works great. It provided excellent heat for aluminum brazing. Using the provided attachment I was able to hang the propane tank on my belt as moved around the project. It puts out a lot of heat but the torch itself does not get hot at all. I am happy with this purchase. I would definitely recommend it.

I bought a three pack of map gas on here that came with a benzo Matic style small torch. But it ended up not having enough power for my needs. I’m using it to heat up the striking end of mining tools that have been hardened. The striking hand needs to be heated up to a gentle orange and then let cool down on its own so they will mushroom properly instead of throwing shrapnel. And this works really well for that heats them up pretty fast. I like that it has the long hose that allows me more dexterity than having the tank attached to the torch head itself. Well built and seems to be a good value for the money. Leaving off one star because price point could be a little better.
