Actually woked
I bought this for a mailbox alert. I never know when we will receive mail. Any where from 11:30am up to 9:00pm. I live in Minnesota and when its -20 F it is no fun walking down 3 or more times a day to check mail I have tried several mail box alert systems and none worked. My mailbox is 650 feet from the receiver and my driveway winds thru the woods. I used double sticky back tape to attach the transmitter to my mailbox slot. I have a lock box type mailbox. This works! Instructions were easy to follow. Very happy with my purchase.

I WOULDN'T BUY ANYTHING BUT DAKOTA
I've had Dakota products for years. They're well worth the money. My 2500 series has been installed for 12 years about 500' from my home. The transmitter finally started transmitting for no reason 10 or more times repeatedly. I replaced the batteries, same result. So I ordered this set. I installed the transmitter, leaving the original sensor which is buried in the center of my limestone driveway to test. It is working just fine and I'll keep the new one as a spare. No need to dig the old one which is in about 20' of conduit before it climbs my pole another 10'. The 2500 series receiver doesn't work with this unit. After reading the directions AFTER I installed the transmitter, I had to bring the new transmitter down and into the house to "pair" the new receiver. I later bought another receiver for my workshop and had to do it again. The second receiver also has a doorbell which needs pairing. Needless to say, I should have read the instructions first. All are working wonderfully and the multiple sounds AND lights have been helpful. I haven't experienced any thunderstorms yet. The 2500 would false alarm when lightning was near.

Long range; well-made
Went through a handful of other devices that did not work at a distance - this one works as advertised - ours is about half a mile. It's easy to scroll through the sound settings, there's a decent number of sounds to choose from that aren't frightening or off-putting, and the clicker/doorbell button is well-made. The hanger that you attach for the doorbell button holds it nice and secure. We did install a tiny "roof" over the doorbell button that hangs on the mailbox to protect from rain and direct sun. Been using it since purchase June 2024 - it's currently Sep 2025. Had to change the batteries, but that's about it. It's also nice that you can pair this with a magnetic door-opener bell/indicator, and expand it to sync with a number of other button locations.

Only 50 foot range
It's supposed to reach a mile. It doesn't.

Only works if button is pressed.
The alarm is working on the mailbox. However I didn't realize the carrier works have to press the button for it to alarm in the house.
