Interesting guide for managing people
The Little Black Book of Human Resources Management by Barry Wolfe. This book is a guide to manage human resources at your work, business or where ever it is that you deal with people. Instead of being a boring number guide of things to do and not to do is a well-planned book that is very well written in a very humorous way. Here he explains how to deal with the boss, with the peers, with the ones down in the scale of the organigram; with different persons that have different attitudes and how to do it without losing the touch and being hated by everyone. For example he explains methods on how to change the things that have to be changed in a person to make things run smoothly in the working place; this was one of the things that attracted me mostly because we know how difficult it could be to change a negative vindictive, jealous or you name it person, that is hurting all the background at the working place I guess some of this techniques can be used in a workplace even if we are not human resources managers

Good and informative
“The Little Black Book of Human Resources Management” is a book written by Barry Wolfe, who has been leading human resources for 25 years in engineering and manufacturing companies both public and private. The book is quite short and I read it in a single sitting. It has only got a hundred and twenty pages. This book has plenty of advices regarding the human resource field. Barry Wolfe’s writing style is quite interesting and captivates the reader’s mind right away. He writes clearly and to the point. Moreover, another good point to remark is that he has an often humorous writing style which calls reader’s attention and makes them keep on reading.I would certainly recommend reading it because apart from benefitting from the knowledge in RH you will also enjoy a well written book.

Straight to the point. Loved it.
Each section was very clear and I loved the author’s reasoning, experience, examples, and his speaking his mind. I chuckled several times. It gave me a different perspective on a couple topics, like drug testing, and some good tips. Worth the read! Thanks.

Every HR professional should read this book
It’s one thing to learn about the theories behind Human Resources, but applying the skills is another matter entirely. In this book, Barry Wolfe, who has worked in Human Resources for 20 years, provides very helpful, practical advice for HR professionals. He describes many different situations that HR professionals face and gives his advice on how to best handle them. Some of the topics Wolfe covers are employee training, performance appraisals, and interviewing and recruiting. He also advises how to effectively communicate with the company president and other employees, and what to do in difficult situations such as downsizing and handling problem employees. These are just some of the areas Wolfe discusses in his book.Though I am not in the field of Human Resources, I thought the book offered much needed practical advice that was easy enough to implement. Wolfe also gave a hard, honest look at the interpersonal challenges that HR professionals deal with and why learning how to handle them is essential to be successful in this field. In my opinion, every HR professional should read this book.

Interesting raw read
This was a good book, spoken as if you were having a one sided conversation as most was based on prior experiences.

Hands down best HR book
I've seen many business het frustrated with HR because it tends to land in this perfect world of manager weekly coaching and perfectly executed progressive discipline, but the truly successful HR professional will understand operations and have business accused. You can't always follow HR best practices in the perfec timeline. This book.echos what I've also learned over the years and it offers real world, practical advice. The "book cannon" has been invaluable as well. I've bought and read all the recommendations and am implementing some at my organization this year. If I had to recommend one HR book, this would be it. Thank you for making HR real and not some department that lives in a vaccum.

Don't adopt this guy's attitude
This book is written by someone who either has lost their passion or went into HR for his reasons pointed out in the first chapter and was beat down to join the rest of them. A direct quote from the book:"A customer can snort and scream at her until the sun goes down, and she has to take it with bowed head bobbing and hands clasped in the white-knuckled supplication. If an employee starts up like that with you, you can just fire them".Um no, no you CANNOT just fire an employee for "starting up with you". Employees are HR's customers. We have to dig to the root of their frustration. But this is only one example, which does set the tone for the book. There are very helpful points made though as well. If you are new to the HR field, this book is not your bible, but should definitely be read.

Filled with tips from a veteran
This book is filled with tips at how to work in Human Resources in a successful and positive way.The author worked as a HR leader for over 20 years and in that time obviously learnt a thing or two about what often goes on and the best way to deal with it.They also obviously have a real passion for the job and convey that in their writing. You can feel the love they have at solving problems in the best possible ways and sharing that with others is just a great thing to do.Humorous at times, for a serious book it’s quite a fun read.
