5 Stars Great protective case
Consider that 4.5 StarsGreat protective case, great fit, feels very secure. It doesnt fit my aftermarket lightning charger cord so I have to take it out of the case every night, this is not a problem hoever it did let me find one. If you dont get it in the case with a perfect fit the people you talk to get a bad echo affect so much so that you cannot carry on a conversation. The same with the touch screen, if its not in perfect and tight it can be hard, or at least harder, to get the screen to respond all of the time. There seems to be a bubble over some areas where the screen protector isnt against the phone screen and can make using it a pain. What I do to get around that it clean the inside of the case screen and my phone screen before I put the case on every morning and that helps, sometimes it still takes try or two to get it just right, but when I do it works and sounds perfect. The sound is a little muffled but any good protective case seems to do that, but this one isnt bad I just turn the volume up one more notch than normal and have no complaints. It has already saved my phone from 1 coffee spill and a short drop into a puddle.

I got this case because my daughter throws my phones ...
I got this case because my daughter throws my phones a LOT. The cases I've gotten before just break, while keeping my phone intact, but I have to get a new case! With this case my daughter can throw my phone all she wants & nothing happens to my phone or the case. Yay!! A++++!!!

I really like this case
I really like this case. The only issue I had was the fact that I had a non apple charger and I have to take the case off to charge it.

Solid
I needed a case for my new iPhone 5 that could handle all risks as my family seem to demolish their iPhones with painful regularity and I was determined mine would survive.Straight out of the box this case was the solution to my concerns.I could see the effective seals against water ingress; the overbuilt filters around the speakers and the seating for the phone in it's armoured exterior. This case by Otterbox is one solid piece of kit yet it is not excessive in its dimensions; never as slick as a gel skin it is still neat and almost minimalistic in appearance with the simple flash of colour on the base relieving the muted grey exterior and just catching the eye nicely when looking for it in low light.Buttons are firm but not hard to operate; opening the charging cover might be a test for artificial nails but is easily accomplished and reassuringly substantial. Screen visibility and use match any other full cover screen I have used ( e.g Griffin Defender) and I would rate as very good ; speech and listening are also unimpeded and I rate as very good. Bot h front and rear cameras work well throughout their protective cover. In summary. I got exactly what I wanted. A case to protect a prized possession that can shrug off any realistic threat to my iPhone I am likely to face in normal life. The Otterbox Armor case gives me complete peace of mind. Not cheap but neither is the phone it protects !Nothing on the market I can see comes even close .

Water Resistance won't last
Summary- Leaks underwater, water resistance quality could deteriorate rapidly after a few uses.- No case on the market allows you to use touch screen underwater.- Case is very protective regards to dropping it and keeping out sand at the beach.- The physical buttons work well.- The top and very bottom of the screen required hard touching to trigger the touch screen in the dry.- The touch screen panel is a little unresponsive and inconsistent.- Great photos and videos underwater - as long as the lens isn't blurred.- Speakers work exceptionally well in the sea underwater.ReviewI received the case and followed the steps recommended. I tested the waterproof ability without my phone inside and it was sealed, no water was getting in. However, that was on day 1 when the product was brand new at the bottom of my sink in my bathroom. The phones resistance quickly deteriorated after using it in the swimming pool and the sea.I did not remove the phone from the case at all, it was sealed tightly on day 1 of my holiday but by day 3 water was leaking in. I saw it while I was underwater behind the screen, I sprung up and ran to my towel. I removed the phone from the case and a good amount of water trickled out. I turned my phone off asap, dabbed it dry where I could and left it in the sun. I turned it on 5-6 hours later and it was malfunctioning, the Apple logo was cut in half and 'system' text was scrolling up half the screen so I turned it off again and left it 24 hours.I checked the case after I open it and my headphone/charging plugs were fully secure. I do not know where the water was coming in. I assume the main seal, as the water was above the phone on the screen not at either end or the rear.My phone is ok now, charging is a little iffy but I was lucky. It isn't worth the risk to buy this case. I have insurance so I could have got a replacement phone covered by water damage. However I would have lost my holiday photos and been without my phone for the rest of my holiday as well as having to pay excess.I am sure there are people who have had this case work, but in my opinion it isn't worth the risk with a £500~ phone inside. If you do buy it just for back up purposes read guides online on what to do if your iPhone is breached by water. Just to be in the safe side.Taking photos underwater is very fun, especially if there's something to see underwater. I will be buying the LifeProof iPhone 5 case for my next holiday and testing that out... I will have water damage insurance though.

I HAVE SOME SERIOUS CONCERNS
My iPhone 5 has spent the last few months in an Otterbox Defender case. While the Defender case offers good protection this Armour case fills in the open gaps. Namely it claims to be water and dust proof. This means the camera lenses front and back are covered with a clear membrane that does not let water in. The design of the older Defender case does allow little bits of grit to get in behind the cover so the sealed deal on the Armour case is good.I have taken a few pictures with the phone and the lens cover does not appear to affect the quality of the photos in normal light conditions. In terms of practicality, call volume and ring volume are not affected in the slightest. In fact I thought the call quality and ring volume had been amplified in some way by the design of the case.On the downside, you will need fingers with the strength of Heracules (Hercules) to work the silent switch, volume buttons and open the covers for the earphone and charger socket. It feels very industrial and heavy duty. The feel of the case in the hand is not entirely pleasant, the back plate edges feel sharp in the palm of your hand because when closed it is raised . The back plate has not been rubberised so it also feels slippery, unlike the Defender case which does not slide around on a table. Otterbox may want to address this in the future. It is also a lot bigger and heavier than the Defender case and adds bulk and weight to the phone. I have always thought that compared to the iPhone 4S the 5 felt a little too light in the hand. Put this case on it and you will not forget it is in your pocket. I actually like the extra weight so I don't consider it a negative. I do however feel the case could be more tactile in the hand I don't like the sharp edges on the back plate.Opening the case and placing the phone inside it presented no problems. The case comes in tow parts, installation is simple. However I have a concern.I tested the case before installing the phone and it appeared water tight, but when the iPhone 5 is installed and the back plate clipped into place there are distinct and slightly larger gaps between the back plate and the main part of the case on the corners on the side with the clips. This is evident on the photographs I have taken. This might be the way it is designed or because the rubber seal between the back plate and the main case fails to seat properly. I'm not willing to throw it in the bath with the iPhone installed to see if it is still water tight. In this respect it does not instill confidence in the product. In conclusion, it is a beast of a case, a battle tank rather than an armoured personnel carrier, that takes no prisoners and ideal for someone like me who works outdoors and wants to protect an investment, namely my iPhone 5. Yes it is expensive and I am in two minds whether I will keep it or not, especially considering I'm not confident the seal is seated correctly. I want to like it but I feel the case could have been better if more thought had gone into the design. As a protector of a high end phone it should deserve at least 4 stars, I want to like it, but it has issues that I'm not comfortable with.UPDATE 30 May:While the case appeared water tight without a phone installed, I decided to give it a two minute dip in the sink with the phone installed. I dried the outer case off thoroughly then opened the case. The case had moisture on the inside corner, the same corner that I showed in the photographs that did not appear to seat correctly. While there was no great ingress of water there was a little. While it is shower proof and splash proof, this particular one is not waterproof. It really needs a little more development.Having gone back to my old defender case after a couple of weeks I have realised how superior it is to the new Armor case, even though it is not fully waterproof.

Strong and ultra safe case, but not for everyone.
I'm really pleased with the OtterBox and I bought it to protect my new iPhone 5 whilst going about my busy daily life. It is a large item and adds half a centimetre or so all round the phone, I don't mind this trade off in size and bulk over knowing that my phone won't be damaged. My friends did laugh at the brick like nature of the product but I really like it and it's neat not to worry about drops or spills and I have a lot of confidence that it will 'survive'. There's no difference to the screen usage and you lose no sensativity. My one gripe is that the plastic screen guard does scratch really easily and that is annoying; within 24hrs it had a straight line scratch on it. I called Otter Box and they did offer a replacement and were very friendly but really it needs to be hardened or made of a better material.Overall its a strong product, literally!

Tough, Bulletproof Case for iPhone 5
I recently dropped and shattered my iPhone 4S so when I replaced it with the iPhone 5 I was not about to make the same mistake, this case is excellent, hard wearing and without doubt built to take a lot of punishment. It is however bulky and increases the phone size significantly and thus if you need to put your phone in your suit pocket this is not the case for you. However if your out working outside and need your phone then this is definitely the case to buy. Typical Otterbox, well made and well engineered.
