Introducing Theory of Music: First writing skills for musicians

Trinity does it again
As a teacher, I like all the Trinity theory books and so am pleased this new Pre-Grade 1 book has been written to complete the series. It is very clear covering all the themes and I particularly like the use of drum pictures to illustrate the beats. Downside is that for the younger pupil there are no cartoon pictures or illustrations that some of the other pre-grade theory work books have, and is a bit dry and samey.

Very very good
A sensational piece of music theory literature - fills a hole in the market for a clear and well conceived textbook for the music theory novice.

Good but....
Working through it with two children and they are both confused at the use of drums, they do not signify beats and they did a lot wrong as we all thought each drum was a crotchet..... it makes sense when you get to time signatures which is a bit later on. I scrapped the first 15 pages and creates my own for them. Apart from that they are ok. Supplemented with work sheets or they could end up just copying and not learning.
