This film is so lovely
I got a Yashica Mat 124G for Christmas this year and bought three of the ilford hp5 film rolls to use. I wasn’t sure how I was going to like taking shots with black and white film, as it is a bit more complex to learn how to frame the photo with contrast and dimension for a medium format beginner like me. And I was really really intimidated. Twin lens reflex cameras have their own learning curve and on top of that I’d have to imagine what kind of contrasting textures the photos could provide for a sense of dimension, taking the lack of pigmentation they’d have into account. This was my first (and equally underwhelming) test shot. I made some mistakes along the way in terms of lighting (a couple over exposed shots) and even one double exposure, and still, the film is rather forgiving.I had friends picking berries and frolicking in the strawberry fields. The sky was a clear bright blue and the fields were rows of dark contrasting black spotted with rippling green plants and bright red dotted fruit. In color, the shots would have been so pretty, but in black and white they were exceptional. Even the dirt paths added texture. When I got the film developed I couldn’t have imagined how blown away I would be. There were images I’d taken that moved me deeply. I’d never experienced that from one of my own shots. I felt like a photographer, not a novice/hobbyist.There’s a strange sense of timelessness this film gives that is addicting. I have one roll left, and I cannot wait to go out and shoot on ilford hp5 again.5 stars, would recommend. These are definitely worth it.

Great film
I used this in a 1990s point and shoot and absolutely love the shots. I work in theatre and the costumes, stage, makeup, wigs, etc. just look so crisp is this BW film. Definitely going to order again soon!

Good quality film
Was given a Hasselblad to test and needed some film. Remember using Ilford many years ago when I had my dark room set up. Good product that makes some excellent photos. Also used in my Seagull TLR camera. Was fun to get back into shooting film again.
