Proctor-Silex 24-Pound Turkey Roaster Oven with Variable Temperature Control and Removable Pan, 18-Quart, Black (32200)

I only got this one because it boasted a tall lid for turkey roasting. Yes it does have a slightly taller lid than the one I already have, but not much. Why don't they just either come with two lids or make all of them with a lid that will fit a turkey. It's pretty darn flimsy too. Very light weight lid, which should be heavier in order to hold heat better, and maybe it would actually brown a turkey that way. This will not brown a turkey, which I found out after purchasing. And NO I don't want fake browning on top by putting kitchen bouquet (yuck) on top of it, which is what the directions tell you to do. I guess I will use it for something other than turkey, or maybe just give it away.

Worked great the first time it was used on thanksgiving. But today when I went to use it a second time to roast another turkey it just won't come up to temp, it's been all the way up on 450 for more than 90 minutes and not even hitting 300 degrees.This is after preheating and roasting with the dial set to 325 for another hour and a half before realizing my thermometer was registering only about 190 degrees. So glad I used this again within the return period. Dont know what happened cause like I said it worked great the first use.

No matter how much oil I apply to the pot, food burns and doesn't come off, ever. I would not recommend this for cooking. It will work well for keeping food warm at a very low temp, but even then you have to keep stirring it so it doesn't stick. I bought it to make dog food. The meat takes forever to cook so I have to precook everything and then throw it into this roaster to mix everything together. What a pain. A total waste of money. Insta pot is much better. At least I can throw everything in one pot and cook it in 30 minutes.

I love this roaster. It did a great job cooking my turkey. The roasting pan is a little thin but i sure worked. I roasted a 20 pound turkey. The turkey was delicious. The top browned pretty well. I rubbed the skin with salt and butter, but if I had basted it I think it would have been even browner. It is too large to fit in my dishwasher, or even my sink, but I set it on the counter by the sink, ran soapy water in it and it cleaned up very nicely, same with the lid. I just followed baking instructions as for an oven. Worked perfectly!

DISCLAIMER: The instruction pamphlet does say to not use this for melting wax HOWEVER....I recently bought some beeswax that still needed to be filtered from a local bee farmer - him and I were discussing our methods of melting wax and how there really isn't a proper tool for small business operators. He uses these turkey roasting ovens. It's great because you can control the temperature - which is a safer way of metling beeswax than on the stove top because if too hot, it can combust. ALSO I can melt 20lbs of wax at one time! granted at 180 degrees is takes at least 24 hours to melt, BUT then I can be productive with my time until it's ready. Everything worked great for my purpose.

In many ways, it is too big to easily clean up, but any smaller and it wouldn't work, so it threads a needle. Makes great soups and stocks and I can leave it go for hours unattended and not worry about burning down the house. It doesn't brown meats though, which is an issue. My biggest complaint is that it doesn't have an On Light or an Off setting. A fifteen cent LED indicator and an ability to have it plugged in but off would increase the value of this device immensely.

Well, the product came with a bad package and make me feel like it is a product returned from another customer.After 3 months of use of this Roaster Oven, I have to say that this is a good quality oven and I am using it for the restaurant every day, and everything works well. The size is good too.One thing that I have to mention is that this oven can't boil the water. I don't know it only happens in the oven that I have, or they don't expect the user to boil water in this oven.

The oven worked, cooked the turkey well and kept it moist, not needing any basting so low maintenance especially since I was making 2 turkeys, one in the regular oven. So comparing the two methods and birds, the oven definitely looked better, nice and evenly browned. The downside to not basting is that the base for the gravy is not really there. So although the roaster turkey tasted good and was moist the gravy was lacking in flavor you normally get from the reduction of the broth. If you don't care about the gravy and or have a different method and if you need the oven for other things on thanksgiving than this is a good alternative. PS- I cooked 23ish lb turkeys and the one in the convection oven cooked a bit quicker than this roaster.

a light to tell when its on and a temp gauge whould be nice but good value for money

Great roaster - only problem is it does not have a light that goes off when the oven reaches the desired temperature.

Ii love this electric roaster as meat much more tender and quicker as well.

I bought this for my art studio to bake polymer clay...works fantastic!

This was supposed to be in EUC. We found it was brand new. Only the box had been roughed up. It works great!
