The Best Coffee Maker I’ve Ever Owned – And I Got It for a Steal!
I’ve had my eye on the Technivorm Moccamaster KGBV for a while, and when it dropped to an amazing price on Prime Day, I finally pulled the trigger — and I’m so glad I did. This machine is everything serious coffee lovers rave about. From the build quality (handmade in the Netherlands!) to the SCA-certified brew temperature, it’s clear this isn’t just another coffee maker — it’s in a league of its own. The brewing process is fast, consistent, and ridiculously quiet, and the end result? Smooth, flavorful coffee every single time. No bitterness. No burnt aftertaste. Just pure, clean coffee.I also love the retro aesthetic and solid construction. It looks great on my counter and feels like something that will last for decades, not just a few years. The best part about this is that it is simple, the functionality is all you need. On, off. Full, half. Really could not be easier.Bottom line: if you’re even thinking about upgrading your coffee game, this is the one to get — and if you can snag it during a Prime Day deal like I did, even better.

Great coffee maker
The Moccamaster has quickly become my favorite coffee machine. It brews coffee impressively fast, which is great on busy mornings, and the quality of the coffee is excellent—smooth, hot, and consistent every time. Beyond performance, it’s also much more attractive than other machines in the same price range. The sleek design looks great on my counter and feels like it’s built to last for years. Between the speed, style, and build quality, I see this as an investment piece that adds both function and a touch of class to my kitchen. Highly recommended for anyone who takes their coffee seriously.

Roll's Royce of Coffee Makers
The media could not be loaded. I’ve owned a lot of coffee makers over the years, but the Moccamaster is on another level. In my mind, it's the Rolls Royce of coffee machines. It's got a nice design, sleek, makes coffee quickly, makes a great cup of coffee and is unfussy.I actually bought mine used for $200. I was nervous about going the “used” route, but the description was spot on. When it arrived, it looked practically brand new except for a tiny cosmetic chip. The performance? Exactly like my previous Mocha Master which brews a full pot faster than I can grind my beans, and the coffee tastes smooth and clean every single time. No complicated buttons, no fiddly settings (no timers so it won't work if that's your thing), just straightforward and also easy to clean. It's quiet and also beautifully a designed machine that I kind of like on my counter. In the end, it that does one thing well.

Good coffee fast
After reading specs and reviews of a dozen or more coffee makers, I settled on the Moccamaster KBGV select. Although it is pricey, I didn't want another leaky $80 to $100 model, and Moccamasters are supposed to last a good while (we'll see). It makes a full pot in about six minutes and is whisper quiet compared to all the other makers I've owned. I started with the recommended seven level scoops of coffee (Folgers Colombian) for a full pot, but the spousal unit found that too strong, so I reduced it to six and a half. Everyone's taste will vary. Some reviews complained about the plastic of the brew basket lid or the reservoir lid being cheap and flimsy, or the brew basket lid warping from the steam. Others thought the carafe glass seemed thin or that the carafe handle didn't feel secure. I didn't really find any of this to be the case. Now, the search is on for a decent burr grinder so I can start buying beans again!

Not your standard coffee maker
My Bonavita coffee maker I'd had for around a decade just died halfway through making a pot of coffee, so I was in need of a new machine, but I refuse to use a pod machine and I wanted something a bit nicer and more interesting than a standard Mr Coffee. I remembered coming across this brand when I was researching my previous pot and was happy to see that they were still around - and that the price hadn't changed much.First off - it's a bit large and looks like you're preparing a science experiment on your counter (which I think is a good thing). It definitely feels solid and well made.Second - the instructions call for wetting the filter in the basket before you put in the coffee. I don't know if this does anything for the taste, but it does cause the filter to stick to the basket well and prevent it from collapsing and creating a mess.Third - I used the scoop they provided (almost the same size as the one I'd had for forever) and the amount of coffee they recommended, and it was...a lot. The coffee came out quite tasty, but I'd be going through a bag of coffee in a couple of weeks using their measurements, so I decided to drop back to the amount I usually used and it comes out fine. The big question was - at three times the cost of a cheap coffee maker, does this machine make a cup that's three times better? Not really.I do believe that there is something to the design that allows it to bring out the better flavors when the extra measures of grounds are added, but with the standard measurement I still wind up with a standard - but good - cup. That said, I'm quite happy with my purchase. It's well built, it makes a good cup, and it looks good doing it. And I know that if I decide to ramp it up a bit with more grounds, I can get a cup that's even better!
