This works amazing!!! it doesn’t look like much, but it captures so many Japanese beetles. Everyday I empty it. You do need to empty it so that it doesn’t stink, because they start to decay. It is very easy to assemble. It’s stable enough. You just have to make sure it’s into the dirt and check it once in a while.

Arrived very quickly and works well.

Trap works as intended

I usually don't take the time to review stuff on Amazon, but I have to in this case. Japanese beetles were destroying a $300 planter of flowers, specifically canna leaves, and I tried home remedies which seemed to keep them off the leaves, but I pulled out the credit card and got this professional solution, and it works! It's a bit tricky...you have to be 30 feet from what you are trying to protect, and down wind from there too (that is, in the direction the wind blows from, well it blows different directions different days, but okay, westerly in my case). I got a tip from Youtube that in addition to setting up the bag a bug, to put a bucket of water UNDER the bag as beetles aren't great fliers and will bump into the bag and fall into the water. So did that too. AFTER 15 hours from setting it up last night there are I would say 100 beetles IN THE BAG and another 50 in the water. While I was checking it four or five arrived and met their demise. They say to change the bag so the "dead beetle" smell doesn't override the phermone lure smell for them, and turn off the new beetles from coming over, so tomorrow I will change the bag, but it's great, and gross, to see a bag weighted down with DEAD japanese beetles. I also sprang for the special stand, which is only so so....Maybe it's at the optimal height, but it's filmsy, and bowing over, and bobs in the wind, so don't love that but it works and that is what matters.

Worked well over the summer season. Just make sure to put it pretty far away from the trees (at least 30-50 feet away); as this is a very strong attractor for the bugs and if placed to close to the trees, it may inadvertently invite the bugs from far away in, rather than repelling them away from the trees.

The 'Bag-a-Bug' does work. I've discovered a number of Japanese beetles in the bottom of the bag. That said, assembling it isn't obvious, and the instructions on the package were somewhat confusing. The bag, once assembled, needs to be hung somehow - either from a flower pole or something similar. I didn't find any guidance on how high off the ground to suspend the bag. I also found that Japanese beetles still landed on nearby roses, so it doesn't capture all of them. The old 'hunt and squish' method I've been using, is a good step to follow alongside hanging the bag.

We saw a beetle or two over the course of a week and then put this up. There are 100s in the bag. 😳 It really works!

Update one year later! Still using last year‘s lure that I each night had placed in a Ziploc snack bag and sandwich bag to seal them. Then stored them fully sealed all winter and spring long and brought them out now and they’re still attracting the Japanese Beatles. The amount shown in the picture of them in a bag is about normal of what I’ve been getting the past few days. I estimate at least 2000 to 3000 in there from the two traps! Fantastic product that works great! Using two traps in different locations would catch from about 4 dozen to well over 500 beetles per day! I estimate a couple of days topped 1000! Thank you Spectracide. I only sprayed my plants with neem oil a couple times this year but have had much less damage from the Japanese Beetles than ever before. I empty the traps daily into a bucket of soapy water and a little bleach. After about 10 minutes they are all dead and I scoop them out and put them in a plastic bag for trash. I also place the baits in zip lock plastic bags for overnight storage .
