Stylish, functional, and downright awesome
My dad told me about this kitchen tool. I thought for sure that no grinder that combined salt and pepper would actually be functional. I was completely wrong. My amazement has not faded with this tool. It is easy to fill, easy to use, and people ask about it all the time. I am 150% satisfied with my purchase, and will recommend this to friends. The only downside I can see is that the grind size adjustment seems a little odd - the mini wingnuts seem to be extremely loose until you being grinding. This hasn't caused me a problem at all, and the grind size stays where I put it, but if you adjust a lot you may have an issue, I'm not sure.Update 9/25/2014-I still love my grinder. Sure, people think it's awesome when they come over and see it, but fact is the thing just works well. I've refilled it a few times, and find it easy to do so. It has started to squeak a bit when I grind, but I believe I can lubricate the plastic a bit to eliminate this. It's not annoying enough for me to fix. Still very very satisfied!

Nice idea, but slightly impractical in actual usage
Such a simple, yet brilliant idea! Yet, in real life usage, practicality falls a bit short.PROS:+ Looks elegant.+ Adjustable courseness. Both salt and pepper have respective adjustable knobs on the bottom.+ Salt and pepper are always in one spot together. If you need one, you probably need the other anyway!+ Pepper grinders are plenty, but matching salt grinders are usually hard to find. While the necessity of freshly ground salt is dubious, the idea is appealing.CONS:- Refill is a pain: A. Hold the base on a tabletop and yank the top off. If you don't hold it steady on a tabletop, you'll end up spilling the contents everywhere. B. The contents are under a flimsy O-shaped plastic sheet cover that barely stays in place because the once-sticky rim has become clung with salt and pepper residue. Lift the sheet from the side that needs refill. C. Origami one hand with the flimsy plastic sheet lifted one side to fill the tiny U-shaped crevice of salt or pepper side with your other hand. Try your best not to spill salt/pepper chunks into the other section or bounce off the stem onto the table.- Does not hold much salt or pepper compared to typical tall salt/pepper grinders.- Depending on the coarseness adjustment, both salt and pepper may inadvertently grind at the same time (ex: if salt adjustment is not tight/fine enough, turning top activates both pepper AND salt).- Remnants of salt and pepper tend to cling to the bottom of the grinder (like any grinder), so if you want purely just salt OR pepper, it won't happen. It probably won't make a difference by taste, but may aesthetically (bits of inadvertent pepper).Once the novelty of a combo salt/pepper grinder wears off, you have a gimmicky grinder that doesn't hold much AND is a pain to refill. My wife doesn't care much for this, but if the salt/pepper refill sections were better divided with hinged lids instead of a plastic sheet, I'd still give it 5 stars.

I love it
It has been close to a year that I have had this unit. I have no complaints, other then the price. If the price was lower, I'd have a couple more. It grinds great! You pick up one unit, and grind both salt and pepper. You can adjust the grain size. It is not the easiest refill, but I did buy it to for ease of filling, I bought to grind pepper and salt (use sea salt! Kosher not so good. SEA SALT, you want the flakes)...and that it does. The construction is solid. The look is modern, and the use is perfect. I orginally purchased to use with my lunch bag/tote. Then, one day I borrowed it from there and put it on my TV dinner stand, and it hasn't moved. Did I say I really like this? I do!

Nice design -- but won't last long
I believe I reviewed this item shortly after I purchased it in March, 2006. I probably gave it a very positive review at the time (the only negative aspect being how difficult it was to refill). Well, it worked great -- for about 9 months. Then the rubber grip came unglued and continually slipped, making it very difficult to turn the top and grind anything. I was able to re-glue the grip, and it worked well for a few more months. Then, the grip came undone again -- AND I noticed the plastic top of the shaker had cracked. I contemplated trying to return it; but, since I had used it for a little over a year, I did not think I would get reimbursed. And I didn't want a replacement (anticipating that it would also not last very long either). I felt I had already wasted enough of my time and decided to simply throw it out. I liked its design and how it worked (until it no longer worked!); however, based on my experience (which seems to be relatively common with a significant number of other reviewers), this product seems to be cheaply made and will not last long. I do not recommend it.

Bodum Twin Dual Salt & Pepper Grinder
Bodum Twin Dual Salt & Pepper Grinder is compact and convenient in that you can season with both ingredients simply by changing the direction you twist the lid. The drawback is the small volume of ingredients that the grinder holds, so while it works well for table seasoning - it is not practical for serious cooking.

Does not last
This is a great idea, but build with low-quality parts. The rubber band with the logo is not attached to the plastic underneath it. After only a few uses, it begins to spins freely without actually turning the plastic knob. The plastic knob itself was crumbling into pieces in under a year, without ever being dropped. Pulling the knob off to add more salt/pepper is difficult, and when you do get it, most of the time it comes off abruptly, spilling salt and pepper. Better products have doors over the chambers so that this can't happen. If the chambers are ever completely empty, there are no labels on which side takes which spice. Do it wrong, and the arrows on top will not be pointing in the correct directions.Buy this one instead. It's much sturdier, and just as useful.Olde Thompson 4-Inch SS Combo Peppermill and Salt Grinder(B0014X5VHY

Bello! Essenziale e funzionale
E’ proprio un bell’oggetto, essenziale. Funziona perfettamente. Unica pecca si vedono molto le impronte nella parte di acciaio, ma non so se esista una soluzione...

The best salt and pepper grinder ever
I had purchased one before from a shop in NSW. Since moving interstate I could not find another one. Well Amazon to the rescue. They are the best salt and pepper grinders ever and I will not use anything else. Very good quality. Makes a perfect gift for some one who has everything. Very happy

gut abgeschaut
