Great Group from the City of Brotherly Love
This is a nice compilation of the Dovells chart hits and misses. Their first and probably best hit, "Bristol Stomp", leads off. If you grew up in the Philadelphia area in the early sixties, you'll recognize many of the next seven songs, including a cover of the Bosstones "Mope-itty Mope". The next, and their last, real hit is cut 12, "You Can't Sit Down". The final four songs are actually not the Dovells, but songs from former lead singer Len Barry's solo career. Barry left the group in late 1963 and had several solo hits including the final cut on the CD, "1-2-3".Were it not for a problem playing it on my LG Blu-ray, I would probably have given this CD a 5th star. Can't explain it; it plays fine in my laptop's DVD player, but when I put it in the Blu-ray, the last four cuts skip repeatedly and often just stop playing entirely. Sent the first one back to Amazon, but the replacement did the same thing.

I play this CD over and over. The songs are great and bring back memories of simpler times. I highly recommend this tape!

Missing some good ones
I bought the official Cameo-Parkway CD for better sound quality than the import with mastering from un known sources (it's not bad) however the Cameo omits "Stompin Everywhere" a big mistake, one of their best tunes, so I couldn't give 5 stars.

The Dovells,..The Best
If you remember and loved the Dovells (Bristol Stomp, Can't Sit Down, and other songs), then this is the CD to buy. Love it, and it just brings back the memories of their hits and the Philadelphia sound from the 60s.

I used Sound Hound to lookup a song I heard ...
I used Sound Hound to lookup a song I heard on a Family Guy episode and it came up as the Dovells' Bristol Stomp. After previewing a few of their songs on iTunes I decided to pick up the CD from Amazon. How come I never heard of this group?

Great Overview
This contains some of Len Barry's best tracks with The Dovells plus two solo tracks for the same label (parkway) plus his first solo hit 1-2-3 for another label after leaving The Dovells. His biggest US hit with them Bristol Stomp is here, from before he developed his distinctive Northern Soul style.

Rarely Heard Gems
If your looking for more Len Barry other than 1,2,3 which many fans of Northern Soul will remember, this CD is a wonderful superbly produced compilation.
