No! If you're putting pure, plain, neutral PH still water into the copper carafe and close the lid, the oxidation process will happen A LOT MORE SLOWLY than if you put crappy water in there and left the lid off all the time.

Q: What can I drink from this carafe?

We recommend using PLAIN, STILL COLD OR ROOM TEMPERATURE WATER ONLY - As the inside of this carafe is uncoated copper; anything acid, carbonated or hot will cause the carafe to corrode and cause too much copper to leach into the liquid inside.
