Those little monsters start off too small for the naked eye. This medicine is gentle enough on the dogs to just trust them, trust their itching, and treat them. Topical medicines have caused reactions, in my experience, many times (dog rescue for decades) but never this. My vet explained it’s actually safer and gentler than most topicals and 30 day treatments. I like how it also kills the mutant that survive the 30 day treatments. Dogs didn’t love the taste, even though it smelled neutral. Just had to toss it in with some treats. My loving, quiet, stoic, sweet senior dog was actually CRYING from his face itching so badly… That’s when I got the packet. (I had honestly not seen any on him, they were so small and the infestation was just beginning) It got here fast because I’m a Prime member. I couldn’t be more grateful. Really. Being disabled makes running to the store for a little thing or two quite a mountain to climb, some days. I digress! Back to CapStar. Within 30 minutes or less of feeding these pills to my two dogs, WOW!!! So many fleas started dropping down, dying and dead, left and right. It was amazing. (Keep your vacuum handy!!! When we bathed them, the water was almost black from all the nasty teeny tiny thousands of little fleas!!!! They fall off, too, like A LOT, but nothing beats a bath). I gave them each a second dose a couple days later to get the larvae and eggs that grew up, and same result. They both finally stopped having to scratch their skin off, or use door jams, or humans, or whatever, to find desperate relief. Thank you, CapStar! My dogs, long hair chihuahua and Chinook, were infested with fleas! And we live in a house with 9 other dogs and 4 cats all infested with fleas. We got in on the 18th, gave it to them, and next day when we check the fleas we're all gone. The infestation was so bad when you picked up my chihuahua all you could see on his stomach were the fleas running all over the place, and I don't just mean a few here and there, it's a really bad infestation. But picked him up this morning and nothing. THIS IS A TEMPORARY FIX! The packaging even tells you this, it only kills adult fleas no the eggs. If you use this product I recommend treating your home immediately after. It does tell you you can use it daily, I haven't tried, but I'm going to wait a day or so for the eggs to hatch before reapplying. I'll try to remember to update the review to let you guys know how it goes. Both dogs are free of fleas even after interacting with the other dogs who still has fleas(they aren't my dogs, and these are really expensive to be buying for 11 dogs.) It's really nice to see my dog actually be able to sleep comfortably. These worked great and I will definitely be buying again. Gonna recommend this to everyone else in my house so they can give it to their pets as well and hopefully finally beat this infestation

My labradoodle got fleas for the first time and it’s been 2 months fighting them on and off. To be honest, I’m not having a “massive” flea problem in the sense I’ve only caught a total of 5 fleas on her since it started, and I look for them with a flea comb daily. That being said, I know she has fleas because I keep finding flea dirt on her. It’s driving me mad. I have hardwood floors and have treated the house by vacuuming daily, washing all washable items in hot water, and spraying the “organic” pet-safe flea spray on rugs and furniture. My dog is also on monthly topical anti flea meds. But something’s clearly not working, so yesterday I sprayed all rugs and furniture with a black label raid flea killer. The smell is super strong and toxic for humans and animals, so you have to leave for a few hours. At night when I came back, I was sitting on my couch playing ball with my dog and I looked down and saw a giant flea on my arm. It bit me and I had to squish it a million times to die. I was bamboozled! I had NEVER seen a single flea NOT on my dog, and this one had jumped on me! I’d like to think the black label spray made it dizzy, and because my dog is covered in sprays, it jumped on me as a last resort. However, this was my last straw. I had not wanted to give her capstar because I’ve tried to stay away from oral preventatives and the possibility of neurological side effects terrifies me. But I had to do something. I got the capstar, fed it after breakfast, and anxiously watched her like a hawk for the following 6 hours to make sure she was okay. I was terrified and I’m so happy to report she had no side effects at all. Not even a sick stomach! Now, I gave her this pill thinking I would suddenly see a million fleas jump off my dog that had been previously hiding, but I did not see a single flea come off. I went in with a flea comb after as well, and did not find dead ones either. About 8h post pill, she’s still a little itchy, but I cannot find any fleas. I don’t know if this meant she had no fleas to begin with, or had very few ones that died and fell off without me noticing, but I was certainly expecting to see much more (or any at all??) coming off after reading other reviews. I’m hoping this means there are no more alive fleas on her, but I’m skeptical I didn’t see a SINGLE one besides the fat one on my arm last night. I am currently locked in my room with my dog as I re-sprayed the black label stuff everywhere else and will let it air overnight, and will give her a flea bath in the morning. So long story short, this might work better if you have a massive flea problem where you can easily find fleas on your dog. She’s only 45lb, so it’s not like she would’ve needed two pills. I will likely not use it again as I’m so confused, but at least happy we didn’t experience side effects.

Def seemed to work there were no more fleas on my dog for at almost 2 days…. I had also bought natural care home and tick room spray just in case. Hadn’t had an issue in the house yet at the time but you never know…. So Sprayed the whole house too. but then all of a sudden the 2nd day, in the room they decided to lay in for that night of the capstar treatment, I noticed suddenly had multitudes of fleas in it….like more fleas then I had def seen on the dogs or anywhere. Like I know larva falls off but I feel like the fleas were just temporarily knocked out onto the floor because we still had adults. & they actually don’t lay in this room often. Vacuumed cause I said maybe it was eggs larvae … And then ofc fleas were then obviously back on my dog because the pills are only for 24 hrs. used it again…just in case with the room spray again …& the same amount of fleas were present in the floor but not on the dogs. So I figured must be the natural care flea and tick spray. Maybe? So I Bought diamectrous earth bought another round of capstars & laid out DE. (And not just in cracks like everywhere all over the entire floor etc. The adults are gone now it seems (yay) but there’s still lil tiny ones jumping round like lunatics Apparrently it takes a while for DE to work on young fleas and doesn’t kill larvae. But kills adult fleas fast. So since the DE killed the adults and not capstar and since it’s only for a 24hr period that it at least gets them off the dogs I don’t feel like it was effective enough to be worth it so I bought nextstar instead this time. It apparrently lasts a whole month and hopefully that combination with them at least keeping the fleas off and the DE murdering them slowly, then this combo should hopefully be more effective. Def crossing my fingers. Cause my ankles werent bit up until after buying flea stuff. How ironic… & I just cannot take it anymore.

I didn’t believe some of the reviews when they were saying the fleas literally started jumping off and dying in 30 minutes. At about the 15-20 minute mark my dog started scratching a ton, roughly 20-25 minutes, literally had fleas falling off of him and coming to the surface of his coat and dying. I have a husky so it’s very hard to see any fleas on him, even during baths… I pulled off roughly 40ish dead fleas in the first hour of him taking it.. I feel terrible because I had no idea he had that many on him. Especially since I had put frontline on him 3-4 weeks prior. People are saying that it’s not a preventative, more of just to kill off what’s currently there. Most definitely killed a good chunk of them off. He’s still a little scratchy, but I would say majority of the fleas died.
