Great all-purpose backpack that might be overlooked
I bought this Gregory Nano 20 backpack about six months ago and still love it, so much that I’m writing my first review on Amazon. I originally bought it for the purposes of a weeklong Europe trip, but have been using it every day during public transportation commutes to work, events, etc. Used it once for day hiking too.The backpack is kind of narrow and tall versus other packs I’ve tried, but fits me well. I use the water reservoir pocket for documents (doctor’s notes, etc.) and an electronic tablet, a.k.a. things that I don’t want to squish in with other stuff I put in the main compartment (e.g., grocery items, change of clothes, a book). The hip straps are not removable, but I just stuff them into the side mesh pockets. I’m not sure how big of a water bottle these side pockets can fit, but I have one of those tall 20-oz. bottles in there. The handle loop isn’t as sturdy-feeling as the Osprey Daylite’s (see below), but these are minor negatives. The backpack also can’t stand on its own, but I think that’s expected and don’t recall having an everyday backpack that can.For context, I had tested out the Osprey Daylite Plus and the new Osprey Daylite Travel. For the Daylite Plus, I didn’t like how the front pouch was connected to the side tightening straps. In the Gregory, I don’t use the tightening straps often, and like that I can keep the straps’ buckles unbuckled so that I can easily zip and unzip the main pocket without taking an extra step with the buckles. What’s more, I don’t lose out on the front pouch feature that the Daylite Plus has, because the Gregory pack also offers a front pouch. And I think this front pouch is arguably better, because it’s made of a stretchy mesh and one can really max out its capacity (thought I’m not sure if the mesh would get looser over time). The Gregory’s front pouch also comes with its own buckle. For the Daylite Travel, I didn’t like the small front compartment (the one with the scratch-free texture) because it didn’t have much shape, and there was no internal organization for this compartment. Most of the internal organization was in the main compartment, which I didn’t think I would use very much unless for school/studying. Meanwhile, the Gregory’s front compartment is more structured, with two mesh pockets and a key clip. I put my external battery and charging cord, pens, and lip balm in there. For both the Daylite Plus and Travel, the straps are bridged together to create a “haul loop”, which I am not used to and think is unnecessary because: 1) I like the option of wearing my backpack high and 2) most backpacks have a separate handle loop for “hauling” anyway, so it’s not like I’m giving that up by going for the classic two-strap design. Also, I rarely use the loop. The Gregory’s backpack straps are technically connected, but it really functions and feels like a regular two-piece design. I have no problem wearing the Gregory backpack high up. Like I said above, the Gregory’s haul loop doesn’t feel as sturdy as the Osprey’s, but this is a minor negative. All in all, great product. Given how much attention Osprey products seem to get as noticed during my extensive backpack search (which is fine, I have their Farpoint 40), I would say the Gregory Nano 20 is pretty underrated and is well worth a try.

Gregory is top tier in my opinion
You can’t go wrong with Gregory. Everything lines up and seals shut. Not a single issue with this bag. Compartments make sense and nothing on it that you don’t need but everything that a person would want from a 20L bag!

Small frame. Will fit 3l hydration. Will not fit 32oz bottles
This pack is really best suited for shorterpeople. someone that is 6 foot tall or over, it will be too small for your frame and you may not have proper alignment of the hip belt strap. For bulkier guys it is going to look rather silly on your back. However, I am 6'1" and I knowingly purchased this as an alternative to a Camelback. I plan on using it to carry a 3l hydration bladder and a rain jacket when on day hikes and a few basic repair necessities when mountain biking. For that I like it because it is small. I bought last year's model in lime green color. So far I do like it and for being a smaller pack it does seem to have plenty of interior space. The side mesh pockets will fit most sports water bottles but not a 32oz Nalgene. The front stretch pocket is great and perfect for a sit pad for hikers. The hydration pocket it large and seperate from the main area, probably my favorite feature. The top front pocket is big enough for keys, wallet and phone with room to spare. Zippers are YKK but tend to get hung up on the rain flap. Would have preferred waterproof zips and no flap. Overall a well made pack if you are looking for a hydration pack or small day hiking pack.

The perfect daypack!
The Perfect daypack. Just big enough, but not too big. Handy compartments, intelligent design, and well made.

Excellent every day pack.
This is a great, small pack. I am 6 foot. 220, so it is a little small looking on my back, but it fits me great. There are not a ton of bells and whistles, but I was not looking for that. The pockets fit a 32oz nalgene snugly. I use this as an every day carry bag, and it works great for me int that application. It does not have alot of options for organization, but I was not looking for that, not do I need it. I can not speak for the durability yet, as it is new to me. With that said, everything looks very well made, and the stitching is perfect.
