What is the best way to use the heat pad for lower back pain? bit confused by the instructions, any advice appreciated thank You :0)

I bought it for my wife, all she does to plug into an extension as there is no socket near where she sits and depending on pain level she just uses the adjustable control to either 1-2-3-4 and when she is finished she just switches it off at the control switch

How long is the power cord?

Approx 6 feet, the switch is half way along the cable.

Switching on ... does anyones flash a few times on turn on? My old ones just went to solid illuminated light so wondering if faulty or new design?
