An emotional masterpiece
I’m going to be honest here and tell you that I had NO IDEA how I was going to even begin reviewing this book. I'm all over the place. I've got a huge book hangover. I finished this book by Marni Mann a few days ago and I'm still reeling from the experience. This emotionally driven, heartpounding, unique romance is like no other. When Darkness Ends is a beautifully crafted story with so much raw and gut wrenching emotion that it was utterly captivating. Without a doubt, this epic tale is completely and irrevocably unforgettable. From the moment I started this story I was hooked and I could not stop reading, even when I felt my heart was being ripped out of my chest. While this story was one mammoth emotional rollercoaster, it was well worth the ups and downs. It was such a phenomenal story and was written so beautifully; it positively took my breath away.I was completely and utterly captivated by this story and these characters. My gosh these characters, they were everything and more. Ashe and Pearl took hold of my heart and didn't let go. They are positively swoon-worthy, and their journey from beginning to end, and everywhere in-between, was such a pleasure to ride alongside. Beautiful, breathtaking, heartbreaking and hopeful are just a few words to describe When Darkness Ends. I don’t want to say too much about this beautiful and haunting story of love and second chances. Go in blind, grab a box of tissues and prepare for a bittersweet book hangover from all the feels. This story left me in a state of wonderment. I didn’t know what to do with myself once I finished reading. This book and these characters stayed with me days after you finish reading, and continue to do so. I can count on my fingers the number of books that have captured my mind, body, and heart this way. When Darkness Ends, is in my estimation, the best book Marni Mann has written to date. Her storytelling is exceptional and she continuously leaves me in awe. She has undoubtedly wrecked me beyond belief. One of my top favorite reads not only of 2021, but ever, and a forever favorite.

5 star series!
<i>"Baby, love doesn't shackle you; it makes you fly."</i)Just...wow. I finished this book weeks ago, and I'm barely writing my review because I keep picking it back up to reread highlighted sections. I loved it that much, and I want to remain stuck in it forever. I reread When Ashes Fall shortly before starting this book because I heard there was a slight connection between the two books, and I'm so glad I did. If you've never read a book by this author, I highly highly HIGHLY suggest you start with that book before reading this one. This is a 5-star, loosely interconnected series of standalones. This book focuses on the love story between Ashe and Pearl. The love that forms between them is both tender and all-consuming. Ashe is smitten from the start and fights hard to keep Pearl in his life. Their love is transformative; it breaks all the molds and shows its true power from start to finish. Because of her background, Pearl needed just the right man to make her brave enough to trust in her heart, and I love Ashe's ability to do just that. That being said, there is so much suspense built into this story. It's told in both past and present tense, and the author very subtly hints at things to come. I was enraptured by the storyline, changing my guesses left and right about why the present didn't match up with the picture the author was painting in the past.I cried for the revisited friendships we get to see in the book and just how much more impactful they become in this storyline. Also knowing that the relationship the author had with her grandma made my heartbreak into a million little pieces with every truly beautiful scene that Gran was in. Gran was a rock, a true monument of strength and tenacity, and her love was overflowing.I find that the books that are most impactful to me are the ones that rip my heart out then tenderly put it back together. Weeks later, and I'm still struggling to move past this beautiful love story.

A POWERFUL & HEARTBREAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL LOVE STORY!
The word heartbreak is absolutely the first word that comes to mind when I think of ANY book in this Moments In Boston series by Marni Mann. This woman has brought tears to my eyes on multiple occasions while reading EACH book! But this book, When Darkness Ends broke my soul and then piece by piece Marni put it back together again but it's crooked and jagged from all the pain that exists within these pages and it's not completely whole but I have to say....this is my FAVORITE from this series and this hero and heroine are among my favorite that I've ever read! This was also the first one that I wasn't able to guess the major plot events ahead of time. Marni kept me completely addicted to this story and on the edge of my seat, trying to predict what happened or would happen the entire time! You will cry but before you cry you will fall in love with Ashe & Pearl's love story! Be prepared if you've already read the first two books of this series; you will see a familiar face or two. Ashe was absolutely EVERYTHING a hero should be. Generous, kind, sexy, charming, determined!! Pearl will have you rooting for her every single step of the way! This girl was fierce, ambitious, honest and beautiful inside & out! The way these two seamlessly fit together from the first moment was just breathtaking to witness!I will say this! **If you have triggers pertaining to sexual abuse, please proceed with caution. This one was definitely a tough read. I have no triggers so the darkness within these pages didn't affect me the way they would someone who has gone through those traumatic events! That's all I'm giving you, I am a firm believer that you should read the book in order to experience the journey! AND Pearl & Ashe deserve you to experience every bit of their story from start to finish!

An Easy Pass Time Read
just taking a moment to say thank you to the narrators for the audiobook, they did a wonderful job conveying emotion into each word that was written by the author.ACTUAL REVIEW:the author’s writing style was a wonderful experience, simple, yet the wording was smart and held a thousand emotions within them.the plot was okay, i liked it, it kept me intrigued the whole time to continue and finish reading the book. i did make a few guesses throughout the book, which turned out to be correct so i ultimately spoiled the ending for myself.the characters were okay, i just wished the chapters were a bit longer so i, as a reader, could develop a connection with the characters; dylan, gran, ashe and pearl. the only character i did develop a connection with was kerry.the pacing of the book, the first half was kind of slow, but it’s understandable, as i assume the author wanted to develop the relationship between ashe and pearl, to heighten the emotions of the characters during the second half.overall, it was a quick and easy read to follow — if you want a book to add to your reading goal for the year, or just a random read. i may decide to read some of the author’s other books later on.<b>TRIGGER WARNINGS</b>- kidnapping/abduction- sexual assault- trauma[ read via kindle + audiobook ]

Ten Stars!!
When Darkness Ends is the third novel in Marni Mann's Moments in Boston series, and just like the two before it, this can be read as a standalone. (But hey, who am I to deprive you of two awesome reads?! Go ahead and read When Ashes Fall and When We Met anyway.) That being said, the male main character here was best friends with one of the male main characters in the series starter. So, if you're like me and you've already read the previous books, then Ashe Flynn should be familiar to you. This is his story, one he shares with Pearl Daniels, but it's also shared by a third character, Kerry Mills. I won't tell you how they're tied together, but what I will say is that each has respective viewpoints.I'm not going to mention anything in this review with regards to the story line other than it's basically split into two parts--Before and After--and that Ashe and Pearl meet as college students. The book certainly has the romance down pat, but it also has a darker feel to it, particularly when it comes to the second part of the book. There's a heavier touch of suspense as well, which is something I appreciate since it distinguishes itself from its predecessors but not overly so. I absolutely adored this book. It may be my favourite out of all three.

An emotional and slightly darker read 🤍🖤
Wow!! Another amazing book by Marni and I can't believe that this is the last of the Moments in Boston series! This book was another gut wrenching and emotional read.It wasn't at all what I expected and how the story would go. It's definitely darker than the other two books.I have to admit Ashe was the best book boyfriend anyone can ever ask for! He was so caring and devoted to Pearl! A perfect gentleman. And the way he treated her grandma as well. It just did something to my heart!Pearl was such an incredible character. She was so hard-working and caring and did everything in her power to help her grandma! I love the relationship she had with her grandma. It reminded me a lot of my relationship with my grandma! And we have to speak about Dylan... I love how we got to see more of him as I loved him ever since When Ashes Fall.I definitely recommend this book and this whole series! But you definitely need some tissues! Or I did!
