This made removing the old drain and installing a new drain much easier. It prevented the risk of damage to the tub. Definitely worth a few bucks to make the job easier.

**** Update: Seller refunded the charge. Not asked for, but appreciated. And the tool DID work with the mods shown below. Moved them up to 4 stars. Worked well but only after some modifications. The wrench wanted to pop off this old fixture rather than turn the drain piece, until I took a file and made the cross-hatch on the tool sit deeper and a bit wider. See photos. No, I literally broke my toe trying to get the drain out of my bathtub. Years of paint and epoxy had sealed the drain into the tub. I used this tool with a screwdriver and my foot for leverage to get the drain out. Needless to say, it worked, but I broke my toe in the process.

This tool was invaluable for the job, yet inexpensive….a true win-win. I had to use a large wrench in combination with the drain remover tool initially to break it free, as it was the original old and rusty drain. Once it broke free, I was easily able to turn and remove it by hand. Took just a few minutes to replace with a shiny new drain .

This was exactly what I needed to swap out my tub drain for an updated one. It was easy to use and fit perfectly. The old one used the larger end and the new one used the smaller end. Grip was easy and it’s a quality tool. Easy DIY - if your project is compliant of course.

It arrived used and battered. I needed it soon so no time to make an exchange unfortunately. I had not checked the reviews before purchasing. Please be aware that it may arrived used since it is an ítem I think many purchase to use one time and then get their money back.

Worked like a charm to get my old drain out that wasn’t working well. Just stuck a sturdy screw driver through the hole for leverage and came out easy peasy.

I had to drill and deepen the center hole on the small side to fit properly on my tub drain. If you aren't handy or don't have access to a drill you may have a challenge with this. This might not be an issue depending on the style of your drains.
