Nice cheap phone but texting not as easy as my old Nokia 130
Further update............... abandoned the phone after 6 months and gone back to Nokia.... picked up a Nokia 130 that I used to have. Its just so much better particularly the predictive texting is in a different league. With hindsight, probably should have given the phone 3 stars max so just amended it.Update after using the phone for 3 months............ pretty good really. Couple more minor problems I discovered........ if you set the alarm to sound monday to friday and not the weekend, it doesn't do Friday so you have to do that separately!! Text messages......... when you're not using predictive text ( which is pretty poor anyway) the option to type in capitals for a word doesn't work... its just a lower font. Anyway.... I'd still recommend the phone as excellent value..... just wish their predictive text was as good as my old nokia 130 was..Excellent value at the price..... what do you expect for £31? Bought this to replace my old Nokia 130 which I loved but they didn't do anymore. Nice big keys/buttons. Seems a good little phone though there's a few things I didn't like compared to the Nokia. I could have done with the ring a bit louder... it was turned up to the max and I'm not deaf!........ it's quite ok for normal use though but the extra volume was handy if I was using some machinery on in a noisy room. Similarly, couldn't have the vibrate on with the sound.... it was one or the other and the vibrate was again useful in a noisy environment where I could feel it in my pocket. Poor instructions.... took me a while to work out how the various unit "convert" options were available.............. still, didn't even have a "convert" on the last Nokia so that's an improvement. The predictive text was very poor compared to the Nokia........... ok... it worked but every word you typed then appeared with options on a bottom line... you then had to look to see if it had chosen the one you want or move across to find the correct one....then press the cspace button before it appeared in the main screen.... a right pain taking much longer plus switching between capitals/non-capitals was more involved. Non-predictive text works fine though and with these problems, might actually be quicker to use. Camera is pretty poor but it'll do for the odd emergency picture..... doubt I'll use or need it to be honest. Anyway it'll do for now and for the price, it's a pretty good phone and I'd recommend it. .

Good basic phone
A good old fashioned mobile. It’s not touch screen so not a smart phone, you can’t download apps or emails. It’s unlocked but only takes small SIM cards (my dad’s sim was too big). This phone is perfect if you just want to use a mobile as phone and not a mini tablet/iPad.

Not suitable for elderly
I bought this phone for my 91 year old father who has had mobile phones for the last 20 years. He wanted a basic phone just for calls & mainly texting. However the phone reverts to predictive texting for every text he wants to send. There is no way to turn it off permanently which is very disappointing & frustrating. The instruction booklet which I downloaded does not give any clear instructions & I followed online guidance which didn't help either. The phone is now defunct & sitting in a cupboard.....unused.

Keypad lock is rubbish
Its a shame I would like have given this phone 4 starts BUT...The keypad lock is absolute rubbish. On the good Nokia phones of long ago pressing the bottom right key followed by the top left within a few seconds would unlock the keypad, all other buttons did either nothing or gave instructions on how to unlock the keypad. On this Alcatel only one button needs to be pressed just once to unlock the keypad.EVEN WORSE the 9 works even when the keypad is locked. Today I accidentally phoned the emergency services while cutting a hedge, the phone was locked and in my pocket. The phone still claimed to have the keypad locked when I took the phone from the pocket later in the afternoon.I'm not sure how I can safely carry this phone while gardening (my work) without risking calling 999 again.Any suggestions welcome...

Good but not what you might think
Old skool phone. Not a smart phone. It does NOT HAVE A BUILT IN MP3 PLAYER as stated in the advert. It's 4G compatible but not able to use any apps or wifi or the web. The reason I want it is becasue it seems to be the only 'dumb' phone that will accept my 4G only provider (ID mobile will not support 2G or 3G). No it doesn't have games, no you can't search the internet but Yes the battery lasts for days, its got bluetooth, yes its got a jack plug, but it does NOT HAVE a music player or mp3 player at all. You can upload music to it of course - it can act as a storgae device - but mp3, mp4, mwav, etc are NOT supported and I'll be damned if I can find what file type alcatel use.
