Solid performer
Excellent for the price. Very comfy knife that comes well finished and the edges on the spine and choil came deburred. No issues with cutting through dense stuff and has a lot of leverage for cutting in multiple grips and at multiple angles. Draw cuts, push cuts, chopping, work very well because the cutting geometry is pretty well done. This knife is definitely is one of the best knives I have gotten from Amazon, especially at this price. Only thing I would change is bring the tip taper geometry a little bit further back, otherwise, this is a solid knife that I would have no issues bringing with me into the professional kitchen. The Damascus pattern is faint but visible. Sharpening bevels are a tiny bit uneven at the tip and heel of the knife. To summarize, having used, studied, collected a lot of knives both cheap and expensive, as well as making my own, this is an extremely good purchase especially the for the price and even a bit higher! I have not had a chance to really test edge retention yet at work, but with all the other stuff, it should have no issues especially with what I have seen when cutting stuff at home. Do I recommend this knife? Yes, both to the home cooks as well as those who work in the craziness that is the professional kitchen! This also would be a good one if you want to try a slightly downward pointed handle. It's really nice on crosscuts where the knife is parallel to the cutting board and gives good leverage. Grip is pretty good, but could be a bit slick since the handle is a bit more polished. Hope this helps! Sincerely, JS

Great knife for value. Must buy for a home cook.
Everyone who cooks at home should have a good quality knife. I have bought more expensive Damascus knives and this one is just as good. What a great value! Worth the price. The ease of cutting vegetables with a nice knife makes cooking more enjoyable. Highly durable, good length. Could even go a little shorter on a chefs knife but none the less works great.

fake damascus
this is a great knife but fake damascus ,100% laser etched , that being said the knife is also a laser , glides through product effortlessly , fantastic factory edge , also one rivot is a little high/ruff but don't feel it when using the knife , over all great value and would recommend to others ....

While Japanese Knives are great, these Chinese knives are quite good!
This is my second purchase of a SAMCOOK knife. I ordered the first one through eBay and the seller delivered it via AMAZON. That is when I discovered I could save some money by going to AMAZON directly and also get FREE SHIPPING. I have a collection of Japanese knives and tend to look down our noses at knives made in China. I prefer Shun & Miyabi & Zwilling Kramer & Ken Onion by Shun. But I've come to appreciate Nanfang Bros & SamCook knives as well. They arrived razor sharp out of the box and do the cut paper like crazy. Time will tell if it is durable, but out of the box it was excellent.

Amazing value for the price
Hands down probably the highest value out of the box that Iโve seen and or felt. This is a crazy steal at the price point. Nice thick handle enables both rock and push type cutting. The grind is insane for the price as well. Not sure if itโs true Damascus but honestly it looks amazing and performs wonderfully. Great edge out of the box. Fit and finish isnโt perfect but it can be overlooked for the price point, and admittedly is amazing for the price.

Bob Kramer knife at 1/12 the price.
Impressed with this knife. It has stayed sharper despite repeated use. I find myself reaching for it over other, more expensive knives.

Potentially great steel, my handle needed help
Got this based on the YouTube Outdoors55 reviews. Potentially great steel (VG10). Out of the box just ok factory edge. Being the knife nerd I am, I reprofiled the edge, finishing at 1000 grit and stropped at 4k achieved a hair whittling edge. Great, but we'll see how edge retension is and whether it gets chippy. It's cool that you can see the center VG10 layer in the damascus design. The handle. QC must have been on coffee break. The pins in the handle were just a little proud of the handle material, not a big deal, but since it was a wedding gift I needed it perfect. I didn't weight it but with the full tang it's a hefty blade, feels solid in your hand. It's nimble enough when you choke up on the handle. Being a gift I hope I get some quality feedback in a few months. Hope this helps -- cheers

Excellent knife, great at cutting/chopping.
One sharp kitchen knife. It's easy to cut meat, cheese etc with this knife. For the money, good value. No problems with the knife at all. Happy to recommend it and the seller.

Great knife, low cost with some imperfections
Got it on sale for $52. It's a nice knife, great balance in the hand and pretty weighty. It's about the same weight as my 10 inch Ran gyuto. Very nice blade shape for rock cutting and tap cutting. Large blade surface as well so fantastic for picking up minced herbs and garlic. I'm stuck between wanting to give it a 3 or 4. 3.5 would be ideal for my rating as the handles on mine aren't fitted the best. There's a noticeable gap between the handle and the bolster for me and a large lift on the handle material that leaves a raised edge. It doesn't get in the way of using the knife or handling it but it does leave an area for water to more easily get to the tang of the knife. The sharpness of the knife out of the box new is nice but is a little dull towards the heel of the knife on the last 1 or 2 inches where I tend to use the knife more. I might exchange the knife for another of the same as I love the profile of the knife but the QC is a little off.
