Fit my Miniature Pinscher dog & worked great. Tried the vibration mode
Fit my Miniature Pinscher dog & worked great. Tried the vibration mode, which got her attention & stopped bad behavior briefly. Then used shock mode on very low setting & a "3" was enough to stop her barking. LOVE the instructions to train dog by hitting the sound, or vibration, button right before you hit the shock button (if needed) due to you are training the dog to stop bad behavior before they get a shock. The dog should learn that a shock is coming right after the sound &/or vibration. Therefore, you should rarely need to use the shock mode. The collar worked fine on my tiny dog & like how the long excess looped around so I did not need to cut the collar shorter. This way I could use it on a larger dog later if needed. The actual unit looks big on such a small dog but it did not seem to bother her however, I only left it on during training (30 min). I would not recommend leaving it on all the time. The remote control worked well & was easy to use after I reviewed instructions & used it a few times. The range was fine for me however, I live in town & only used range up to 100 feet. It did work when my dog was in backyard barking at neighbors & she suddenly stopped when I pushed the vibration button while I was inside the house, but standing near a window facing the backyard. This device worked great for me and I couldn't be happier about the price.

I have a 6 Mos old pit bull puppy, ...
I have a 6 Mos old pit bull puppy, who is getting very strong and will pull with all her might while leash walking. I purchased this collar to help get her attention, as a regular choke collar was not doing the job, she would pull so hard until she practically couldn't breath. At first I tried only the vibrating function on this collar, but that didn't work, so after testing the shock function on myself at 15 strength, I decided I would try the shock function on her. I have found at 3 stength on the collar, it will effectively get her attention. I only had to use the shock function 3 times while leash walking her before it became perfectly effective, I then would only use the vibration method, and again, it worked perfectly to get her attention. Now when I walk her, I no longer have to use the collar at all, mearly make an attention grabbing noise if she starts to pull, and she immediatly falls back and walk right beside me. I would say this collar has been effective so far at this point.... off leash walking is another story to be told! Have not gotten that far yet with the training collar.

Not reliable
Easy to use, easy to set-up. Could be a great little unit but it's not reliable. I'm not sure if it goes to sleep after 30 minutes of non use or what. I charge it up turn it on and it works great. I put it on the dog and wait. My dog may not do anything wrong for awhile but when he does I hit the zap or vibrate and it fails to work. I have to turn the color off and back on for it to start working again. I'm looking to purchases a better quality one now.

Its the perfect basic collar
Its the perfect basic collar. Good price, and does the job good. The remote is a little cheap though especially the plug in port.

A whole new Dog!
Love this thing! I got this after my dog ran away at the deer cabin for 2 days! I was devistated that was back in September now it is December and I don't even have to use it to take my dog out! It's like having a whole new dog. I used to worry if she got off a chain and now I don't have to even put her on a chain bc she behaves so well! I even ordered one for his dog? My dog is 7lbs and my brothers dog is 60lbs! He said the same thing about this collar! This is seriously one of the best purchases I have made in my life! I can't say enough good things about this! Oh and after I used the shock less than 5 times all I had to do was vibrate and she would come! Now we are down to no collar! Thanks to this amazing collar!

Great Starter - Some Limitations
This is a great collar for the money, but I would only recommend it as an affordable way to get into using e-collars before investing in a more expensive (and ultimately reliable) unit. I would not recommend it for safety and/or serious field use and here's why: - The handset and collar unit pair easily, but will occasionally disconnect and stop communicating without warning. This requires you to power off then power on the collar unit. This of course would be problematic if your dog is not responding to voice commands. - I am suspicious of the "330-yard range" claim. While I live in a mountainous area, I do have 40 acres of rolling field and found the range to be roughly 150-yards on a full charge. Beyond that, you can hear the beeper breaking up, connecting, disconnecting. - The beeper is not nearly loud enough - The handset powers down too soon. I haven't timed it, but it seems to be around a minute before power down. This of course makes split second corrections problematic, when you have to power the unit back on. This requires you to continually keep your eye on the controller and hence, off your dog. - The charging port on the collar unit has a positive lock-up when plugged in, but the rubber plug to protect the unit from water does not stay seated. I need to continually add a small piece of electric tape to the port cap to keep the unit protected. The hand controller requires quite a bit of jiggling to get the charger to make positive contact. - It is too easy to accidentally scroll to correction modes when they are not needed. More positive 'clicks' between correction modes would be a nice feature. - 100 correction levels are unnecessary. Most modern units have 8-10 levels. I use setting 004. It's too easy to over correct and the correction level increases SIGNIFICANTLY beyond setting 005. Try it on yourself and you'll see what I mean. I have a large breed tough hunting dog and correction levels beyond 005 are far too stiff. While I listed what I found to be the weak points, there are some reasons to purchase this collar - namely: cost. I had to balance budget with the need to start training my dog on an e-collar. At the time, I could not afford a more expensive unit. This allowed me the opportunity to train my dog and be able to save up for a more effective unit, with more features and better range. The collar itself is lightweight and was comfortable for my dog to wear for extended periods. With bird hunting ranges being fairly close, the D-18 collar was effective in the field and the fact that it has an orange band made it visible. The blinking LED light is also very bright and allows you to be able to track your dog in darker conditions. The vibration feature is also very effective. It allows for a good second warning before needing to select stim. Subsequently, the need to go to the stim mode was very infrequent thanks to the excellent vibration mode. All in all, if you're looking for an extremely affordable way to see if an e-collar is right for you and your dog, the D-18 is an excellent choice. Just be aware of its limitations and while you're training your dog, save for a more expensive and reliable unit, like a Dogtra or Garmin. I hope this helps and good luck!

Not quality made.
My dog barks at night. It has been very challenging to find a dog training collar that is remote control, quality made, and rechargeable. This collar works amazing the first time you use it. Unfortunately its cheap and not quality. The first one I bought had exposed wires inside which would not make it waterproof. Although it worked, we sent it back. We bought the collar for a second time and the first time we had to charge it, the charging port broke immediately. So disappointing. We will send it back, bite the bullet and buy the more expensive one in hopes that it works better.

Really works
This collar works so well I can't imagine why I waited to get it. We rescued a young Jack Russell (Mac) who terrorizes our old Black Lab (Pepper). I put this collar on Mac and as soon as he tries to bite Pepper I press the zapper. The vibration worked well, but when I used the shock (set to only .10) it really worked. Now I don't even put the collar on Mac. I just pick up the remote and he knows to behave. The charger comes with two cords, one for each unit, so we charge them both every couple of days.
