Fixed My 17 Year Old Car Seat
I have tears starting to show in my seats from my 17 year old car. They are leather seats but there vinyl areas. That is where the rips are starting to appear and they are spreading. I always am a J-B Weld fan. I have used their products everywhere in my home repairing things that I thought could not be salvageable. The adhesive in the J-B Weld Leather and Vinyl repair does work to stop the rips from spreading when you use a backing. I actually found some left over fabric in a similar color to my car seats. That worked well with the adhesive to repair rips where I do not have to mix and add color filler. In one area, where I did have I mix filler, it was tricky to get the color to match the car seat perfectly. I found an online tool where you upload a picture of your material, it would give you suggestions on what colors to mix and how much to match it to the material in the picture. But my still came out too dark compared to the car seat. If the filler ever comes off by itself, I might try to mix a lighter batch again. But at this point I am happy with it. After all, it is a 17 year old car and this is a $10 fix. Stopping the rips from spreading was my main concern anyways. That part worked well.

Surprisingly impressive! A good product at a great price.
I wasn't entirely certain what to expect with any leather/vinyl/dashboard repair product. The reviews for many brands and types of repair kits were all over the board from the best ever to whale-dung bad. I have used JB Weld products in the past and they have always worked as expected so I ordered the J-B Weld 2130 kit to repair my cracked and tired 1979 Fiat X1/9 dashboard. Since I am knee-deep in a full X1/9 restoration, the dashboard I repaired was removed from the car and the repair kit was used inside a dry, heated garage. The vinyl repair silicone is fairly thick but will flow out slightly to smooth over any light wrinkles or high spots with the initial application. There are a couple of things I would recommend when using this (and likely similar kits): use a plastic single-edged razor blade (or similar) or a small (1" or so) flexible plastic applicator to apply the vinyl repair compound. The included applicator is very thin, narrow and breakable. It (the included applicator) also limits the quality of your silicone repair application. I also recommend thoroughly cleaning the repair area with alcohol (per the instructions). In my experience, most repairs will require more than one application of the repair compound. One thing to remember is the curing time, around 24-hours. I suspect the quality and curing times will change with temperature and humidity. Now for the results. In a word, impressive. I applied the compound and let it cure as directed. It does shrink a bit, likely requiring a second coat. However, on the second coat, I used the included texture paper to match the texture of my dash. I did use painters tape to ensure the texture paper would make good contact with the second application of the repair compound. I am not certain if this is required for good results but I didn't think it would cause any problems, so I taped it down. The results were very good and much better than I expected. For the price of the J-B Weld repair kit I figured I would give it a try before I went to the expense of ordering a professionally restored dashboard. I am glad I did! The quality of the repairs I achieved were good enough to satisfy my very high standards. The colors included with the kit can be combined for additional colors. I was able to get a good match for my dashboard, although I plan to paint and flock the dashboard for a more finished look. However, that isn't required to get great results, at least in my experience.

Good kit that works with a little practice and patience
Worked well to repair the small rips in the door cards of my e30. Not easy to match the paint but close enough to look better than the tear. Not perfect and I’d say damn near impossible to get 100% accurate on the color but if you’re looking for something to make your daily driver more presentable without replacing the door card this will work for you.

Ehhh, It's OK.
This is my first time using this product. So far I'm not all that impressed. Yes it does tie tears back together and yes it will fill in gouges but as for the top color finish, it's really difficult to get it to look good. I keep getting voids under the texture paper and having to do it again. That wouldn't be so bad but every time I have to redo it I have to wait another 24 hours. I think between this one and the kits that use heat to cure the top coat, the heat cure would be preferable. For my project, I'm going to spray a texture over the surface and respray the whole panel so it doesn't matter too much but for a spot repair where the entire panel isn't being resprayed, I think the results would be disappointing. I like JB Weld products but this one isn't my favorite. This product does come with many different colors to choose & mix from. I couldn't find that info anywhere. Just thought that might help.

Don’t waste your money
Don’t waste your money, horrible product. Glue is just simple white glue, backing fabric falls apart while you cutting it, colors are not pigmented. All of it has a quality of a $1 store elementary school kit.

Nice comprehensive vinyl/leather repair kit
The kit provides plenty of material and a wide array of colours. At $20 or so it may seem like a lot to fix one thing, but the kit has enough material to do at least a dozen small repairs and it will likely dry out or expire before you’re able to use it up. Repairs do take a bit of time, with each of the multiple stages taking a full day to cure. My repairs were not 100% invisible (though I’m thrilled at how good they turned out), but I'm pretty sure that was because i chose the wrong texture swatch, the kit comes with several.

Difficult and time consuming. For very small repairs only. Mixing color is a crap shoot.
This might be OK for very small holes or tears but for anything larger than say 1/16 of an inch I would not recommend. For one thing there's not enough of the repair paste for anything larger. The other issue I had is the color dried much darker than what I had mixed to match my leather chair. It looks like hell because it's not even close in color and not smooth. In retrospect I think I would have been better off cutting a bit of material from an out of sight location of the chair and glued it over the damaged arm of the chair using a proven adhesive such as Shoe Goo.

Not doing the job. Low and poor quality
No color can match, and I revived it without the tool to apply the heat on
