Scotland and Romance
Paige visits her parents with her Grace, her little girl when her life took a turn fo the worst, off work for stress and failed marriage, then the death of her husbsnd, she went home to her parents in Scotland . Johnny was the perfect match for Paige, he had issues and suffered a heart attack due to stress and changed his life around for the better, with the help of Paige, Grace, Mack and his brother and villagers. This was a really lovely story and wounded love a follow on from this one. I think there is still more story to tell. This would be amazing

Inspirational story with great characters and fantastic setting
This is a gorgeous contemporary romance in an idyllic setting with a fabulous community feel to it all, complete with just a hint at the psychic, too.Paige Dougall grew up in the small village of Lockton in the Scottish Highlands and it is here that she returns with her three year old daughter when life throws her another curve ball โ sheโs had too many of the in the last year and is struggling to cope with facing yet another calamity. When an uncontrolled puppy endeavouring to run off with the contents of her suitcase inadvertently introduces her to its owner, Johnny Becker, neither realised the repercussions! As she and her daughter settle into village life, sheโs faced with new options โ including a possible romance. However, sheโs been hurt before, will she take a chance on life and love again? Some sensitive issues are included in this story, including mental health, guilt and grief, they are dealt with in a sympathetic and caring manner. There are some fantastic characters and plenty of surprises along the way to more than one romance. It is a heartwarming, inspirational read, showing how important it is to take time to appreciate what makes you happy. It is about learning to work to live and never to live to work, sorting your priorities out to help you live a happy life and have time to enjoy your life with those you love and care about.Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for my copy of this book which I have voluntarily read and honestly reviewed.

A wonderful warm story
I really enjoyed reading this book about Paige and her daughter Grace and of course Johnny. Paige lost her husband in a car crash a year ago but her marriage was already a car crash as she was never enough for Carl. Going back to her home in Scotland to her parents house helps Paige to unwind and relax with the help of Johnny. Home is where the heart is.

This review was originally posted on Star Crossed Reviews I received this book for free from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. Thank you to Bookouture for my copy of this book via Netgalley and for letting me take part in this tour. I read If Every Day Was Christmas at the end of 2020 and I really enjoyed it so I was excited to return to Lockton in the Summertime.Paige and Johnny are a pair of characters that you just instantly root for. They both need a bit of love and happiness in their lives. I really liked them both. I would absolutely love Jonny to cook for me. I had quite the rumbling stomach while reading this book.I adored Mack the little mischievous pup! He made me laugh with all the antics he got up to.I really liked having the stories of the other villagers going on in the background. I think it really helps to me the village more realistic. The location is so well described that I could see myself there going for walks and look at the countryside. I am dying to go to Scotland again. I also loved the library! This was a lovely easy summer read. Go grab an ice cream, a cold drink and settle down with this book. It will be an afternoon you won't regret!

Ok
A bit overlong. Tended to be rather tedious. Not really a feel good read at first. Rather dark and miserable to start. Picked up later.

Cute, fun and funny!
Loved this super cute book!! Paige is a widowed mother of an almost 6-year-old who has been ordered to take an administrative leave from her job as an event organizer due to stress. So, she goes home to her mam and da in the tiny town of Lockton where she grew up to regroup and recover while she waits for the sale of the home she's purchased to go through. In Lockton, Paige finds that she's relaxing and her daughter is thriving, but she still plans to go back to London. She worked in the local library as a teenager until she met her husband and he swept her of her feet - and out of town. The librarian died and the library closed for repairs. Since she's an event organizer and was the librarian's protege (everyone in town expected Paige to take over eventually), Paige is coerced by her mam and two other influential village women to take on the task of reopening the library.Helping her refurbish the library is Johnny Becker, a former high profile chef who had an exclusive restaurant in New York City, but is now dedicated to being laid back. Johnny has his own issues, especially when it comes to commitment - even if the commitment is to training a rambunctious Golden Retriever puppy.I loved all the characters, the town, Mack (the puppy) and the story. Fun and cute and an excellent romance novel.

Too heavy
Reviews of books can only be subjective but I have read a few books by this author now and enjoyed these a lot but this book does not do it for me. It is rather heavy, especially at the beginning as it is dealing with serious topics like burnout (which is not named per se but heavily referred to). Therefore I would not describe this book as "An utterly perfect feel-good romantic comedy" despite the (spoiler alert!) happy ending. Also, in my edition there are some flaws in the writing/editing, like a sentence not connecting to what was said before which makes for a bit of a weird read. Also, as a dog-owner, I can tell you to teach a dog "come" is not as easy as described ;-)

Finding love again
This should probably have been named Kindness Cottage. :)It's so easy to fall into the deep chasm of guilt, self-deprecation, and utter desperation to find a meaningful life...sometimes you do feel like life's burden is on your shoulders.Johnny and Paige find each other just when they need each other. All characters help in knowingly and unknowingly, and that's the beauty. This was an addictive read, one which I couldn't stop reading and savouring. Thank you for a lovely book.
