Nurge Premium Beech Wood Gold Clasp Embroidery Hoop 8mm (130mm = 5.11" ~ Approx 5")

Nice weight-sturdy.
I bought two different types of hoops for two different purposes. This one was to use when actually doing embroidery. I've used plastic hoops for years but they have to be tightened so often. Several of my embroidery books mention using a beech hoop so I thought I'd try one. The reason for the 4 stars is because I will need to sand a rough place on the outer hoop--other wise it seems to be a nice weight and sturdy. I will be wrapping the inner ring with a strip of white fabric or bias tape as recommended in those same books before putting my fabric in the hoop. It is a good hoop for the money and I didn't have to pay those high shipping cost from England.

I do recommend this brand of embroidery hoops
I think these are well made. I took the plunge and also bought Hardwicke Manor brand hoops. I can't find a whole lot of difference between the two besides price. Nurge being equally well made and a lot less expensive. I did notice the HM hoop has a smoother finish, a more rounded edge. The hardware on both is very nice. Nurge has very distinctive hardware on their brand. Would give Nurge five stars if their finish was more smooth but there is no difference in performance and what they are made to do. I like them both and would buy Nurge brand again.

It was the largest hoop I could find!
This 12 inch hoop closes tightly but not so much you can not get it undone. The wood is smooth and strong, easy to handle.

Sturdy and well made quilting hoop.
Wonderful. Just what I wanted. Used it as a quilting hoop for Sophie Standings online class.

Good quality embroidery hoop
Good quality wood and very smooth. The hardware is a pretty brass and tightens perfectly well. I love the 4” size as it makes it easy to handle while using needle and thread.
