Which one is for gas tanks?

All tanks are made slightly differently. Without knowing the type/specs of the tank, it is hard to say.

However, typically tanks are HDPE, LDPE, or PP. We suggest looking at the specifications of your tank to match the plastic. Most of the time it is engraved right into the tank itself.

7 Different Plastic Types- Covers the 7 most used plastics- Polypropylene, Polyurethene, ABS, Polyethelene, TPO, Nylon, and Polycarbonate. 
Here are the abbreviations as well in corresponding order.
Neutral Colors- clear(PU) black(PP) beige(ABS) white(PE) grey(TPO) ivory(PA) clear(PC)

Are these the rods that are used with Jounjip Plastic Welder Boot Tips?

Yes, These particular rods work very well with the boot tips because they can be fed through the hole to melt the plastic.

However, They can also be used with the triangle tips. It depends on your preference.

Which would be used for a kayak

Accepted Answer

Some manufacturers will print the triangle with the number and abbreviation (ie: PP or HDPE) right on the kayak. Most common symbols are shown in the listing and the bullets above explain the full names (ie: Polypropelene for PP). Others you may have to find on the website or contact the Kayak manufacturer.
