Briggs & Stratton 691564 Starter Motor Replaces 808106, 691564, 693469

It was the perfect replacement,

A lot of starters show up in amazon search, but I had to look carefully to ensure this was the right one. It is a genuine Briggs & Stratton part, and it had the correct 15-tooth gear (see picture of original motor). The other motors had different gear tooth counts etc. I installed this one & it has been working great so far. BTW- the "trick" for me that worked best for getting the old motor off (and the new one on) was to use a wobble extension to get a socket on the right bolt head (you can get a cheap wobble extension at Harbor Freight).

It bolted right in on a Briggs 22HP, just like it should. Mine was updated with a steel gear, not the cheap plastic one it replaced.

Good, solid looking and feeling part installed properly and functioned great.

I decided to purchase this after having one of the $50 black aftermarket ones failed in a month due to a burned up brush mounting plate. This starter on day one spins the engine faster than the aftermarket one did on day one. No regrets spending the extra money. Its definately an OEM part that came in an OEM box

Fit my 23hp briggs just fine works perfect Just it is not very rust resistant after about the first few days it was showin surface rust. This was going on a 23hp surface drive boat motor

Took it out of the box, put it on--never worked. 2 hours mechanic time + postage return. What a waste.
