Risk is everywhere in business and mostly cannot be eliminated, yet you can certainly seek to manage and reduce the, err risk, of things going wrong. This book provides a practical look at the world of risk management for business, allowing the reader to examine their company’s own operations and seek to implement best practice and changes as necessary.It can be a very thought-provoking read. Dependent on your company it might even be a scary read if you realise just how much risk its operations face. Yet if you believe you already have all risk managed don’t get smug and complacent, as new risks may emerge when you don’t expect them… So reading this book can still be of benefit, as in the best case it might underline just what a great job you are doing, otherwise let it inform you about areas needing consideration and remediation.The book has done a great job in bringing together different sector experts and participants and marshalling their considered thoughts, concerns and opinions. It is worth reading each chapter even if you consider it doesn’t apply to your own operations as there is such a wealth of great material on offer and you don’t want to miss out on anything. The book is capable of being a great resource to the beginner and the expert hand at the same time.It is clearly aimed at a specialist audience yet there is still a lot that the curious, general reader could enjoy, especially within a wider business context. It provokes thought, yields knowledge and is quite an engaging, more-ish sort of book even though you wouldn’t expect a book of this kind to be! It deserves wider circulation and the chapter-specific approach means that it can be different things to be different people, with some readers focussing on a smaller amount of chapters whilst others devour it sequentially (a recommended course of action). Emerging trends and future issues of concern are also considered too!In short, this is a book that deserves not to be pigeon-holed and deserves a wider audience than what it may otherwise attract.
