A meal of a book
This is my second book by Amitava Kumar. I have read his Immigrant, Montana. I liked it; so I got this used book… I find in him a kindred spirit. Also, he mentions (references) lots of other books and authors, so it always feels like a professorial paper. Like he mentions, Raj Kamal Jha’s book “the Blue Bedspread” (never heard of it) in talking about a visit to the American Center Library in Connaught Place, Delhi. His chapter “My Hanif Kureishi” life is my fave so far, as he mentions the ‘My Beautiful Laundrette’ the story around it and he brings in my other fave book ‘English August’ in the same chapter. We are clearly contemporaries in age and taste of reading. I always walk away more informed. Ok 👋

Truly incredible. I heard Mr Kumar speak at the United States Artists Assembly and was struck by his voice. He truly deserves the accolades and I am excited to read his other works!
