What are the rubber mats for? Where are they supposed to go?

The rubber mats are used to protect your hoverboard from scratches and help to attach the go kart kit more firmly with the hoverboad. Attached is a video showing how to assemble them. Hope it will help you.

The item is great, just missing some screws. What should I do? I don't want to return it.

Horrible customer service and product!

Hoverboard you have one of the worst products on the market. And your customer service is horrible. You want everybody to jump through hoops taking pictures videos cutting wires taking more pictures on your faulty recalled product. And then finally to send out another hoverboard that doesn't even work. And now almost a month later you still haven't replaced it. I was told on the phone some of the units are catching on fire and some of the units are maneuvering on their own. Hoverboard time to step up to the plate.
