My first "HP" PC; Fast, user friendly, smaller footprint (a bit clunky?), does the job!
Bought this HP Refurb in early October 2016 to replace my older Gateway Win7 (Home Premium 64-bit, Pentium processor, 6GB DDR2, 1TB HDD, large tower enclosure), which had shall we say, an unfortunate episode (crashed?). I didn't want to go to the much advertised Windows 10 OS (which Best Buy will try to convince you that you must have!), or even Win8/Win8.1, as good or acceptable as some users believe they are? I just wanted to stick with what I knew and was comfortable with. This led me to this HP PC (as well as others that were comparable and closely priced under $500). I paid $399 for mine on Amazon and had free two-day shipping with my prime membership. The PC came well packaged, certified by manufacturer, and ready to go with the usual protocols for establishing the user and registering a new PC. The installed software is very minimal, just Win7 Pro and not much more as I recall; it's a clean slate for the user to add to as fits their needs. This HP is 'smokin-fast' compared to my old one (I did have my FIOS speed doubled which accounts for some of that but not all). I recently transferred about 160 GB of files from my old PC, and have barely put a dent in the usable memory and with no degrade in performance. The only negative I have to complain about (and took off one star for) is minor; the hard-drive sometimes makes clunky (crunchy?) noises as it does whatever hard drives do; not constantly, but often enough to be noticeable. My old PC didn't do this exactly (it made different noises?), however all PC's make some noise I suppose. Other than that this HP is versatile, reasonably priced, and as my first experience with a "Refurbished" PC, I would say that overall I'm very pleased with this purchase.UPDATE: Jan. 12, 2017; Can't believe I missed this! But when I tried to connect a flat-screen TV to this PC with a HDMI cable, I realized that it didn't have an HDMI port in the back, but rather a 'DisplayPort'. This is clearly a rookie mistake, as I was more concerned with speed and memory, and "assumed" that a refurbished unit would have at least one HDMI port like my much older PC (didn't check the specs close enough!). Not the end of the world, as I have ordered a 'Cable Matters Gold Plated DisplayPort to HDTV Cable', from Amazon, which should work fine. But really, NO HDMI? Oh well, at least the price is more reasonable (now listed at $349.99), and now I know what a "DisplayPort" is.

A terrific system for the price.
The system arrived earlier than I expected, which was nice. It also came with 4 USB3 ports, a pleasant surprise.I did run into some issues that I had to overcome:* When I first plugged it in and booted it up, it beeped five times, but nothing displayed on the monitor. I googled it, and found that I needed to reseat the memory.* I had difficulty getting the side panel off; the lever didn't work correctly. I eventually jimmied it off and got the memory reseated and it booted up OK.* I bought it to run Linux, not Windows 10 (which it was shipped with). The system was configured with UEFI enabled, so it wouldn't boot off of a USB stick. I used Google to figure that out, too. Once I set up legacy boot support, I got it to boot up from my USB drive and got Linux installed.I have one outstanding issue; it won't boot with a 4 TB USB3 hard drive hooked up, but the drive works fine if I hook it up after its done booting. I updated the computer's BIOS, but that didn't help. The system itself is wonderful, making my older linux server seem sluggish. I'd not hesitate doing business with them again. The seller offered me an exchange, but since I have it working well (other than the mounted USB drive issue, which seems common based on google results), I opted to keep the system I have.

Poor sound.
Being are refurbished, I took the unit in to have it gone though and make sure all was as it should be. What I failed to do was have the sound checked. (I assume the tecnitican did verify that the sound worked.while checking out the unite for me.) The issue I found is that the sound on HIGH is not adequate for normal hearing, let alone for those hard of hearing, so I had to purchase an external speaker. I am a bit hard of hearing, but my son who set up the computer for me is NOT, and he had to bend down with his ear to the unit in order to hear what sound was coming from the machine. It took me 6 weeks to get the unit checked out and to have it set up by my son, to long to return it and at this point with all the effort done to set it up and to have it checked out, I am not sure if I would have it sent back. Everything seems as it should so far. I will report more later if I discover other issues.

Good buy.
A decently power computer for the price. This will meet most needs when it comes to basic gaming and other such needs. Do no expect this to run extremely high processing based programs. I have tested some games, such as Epic Battle Simulator line of games, and it still lags, but other game it can still run easily. Now as to issues other have talked about, it is not a silent computer, but it is not loud either. It makes a little noise, but nothing that cannot be toned out with a little bit of music or movies. As to the issue of it working or not when you get it, and dying right away. That is a risk that comes with all buys new or refurbished. However in my case, I got one of the good ones. And it works perfectly fine. My did come with Windows 7, and a disk drive. It does not come with the stand as seen in the picture. The mouse and keyboard that comes with it work nicely, and I will probably use them for a while yet.

A solid buy
Arrived a day early on 2day shipping so a little impressed only reason I gave 4 stars was I was kinda looking forward to checking out win 10 and arrived with win 7 otherwise the mouse and keyboard are pretty much junk super cheap USB junk but nice lookingWould I buy it again yes I don't regret buying this in the first place and it looks sharp the case is a little temperamental to open but pulling the handle and lifting up on the stuck side did the trickEdit: put in a gt 1030 graphics card and I’ve been gaming pretty hard runs pubg with low to mid settings all day long never over heatsUpgraded to win10 and it has definitely boosted my FPS even with the built in graphics I noticed a 3fps gain never tried it without win10 on the card but I imagine it helps significantly

Good product but...
Great solid built enclosure with all the parts easily accessible. Don't expect much from the 2T HDD drive installed. It is quite noisy and dated and slow. You may want to add a SSD as a boot device and there is plenty of space for it inside. I put mine under the power supply and kept the original HDD as storage. Although the power supply is proprietary and limited to 250 Watts, you can easily upgrade the integrated HD2500 with a GTX 1050ti and turn it in a low end gaming desktop pc. I haven't had any issues yet with it so far and it seems to perform well under stress. No Wi-Fi nor Bluetooth devices built-in and all the 4 ram slots are occupied. It is a very solid business machine that despite its form factor and proprietary hardware, can be easily upgraded to perform more demanding task. Overall I am satisfied with this product.

Big Mistake
I should have returned this computer right away. Worked Ok but hard drive runs continuously and is very noisy. Eventually I was getting the "Blue screen of death" memory errors. I finally found out it was a bad ram chip. By now my return time had expired. Bought a 3 year extended warranty but when i contacted them they wont cover saying it is still under warranty by HP. Tried to find out about that and got nowhere. I don't believe it is because it is refurbished. When not in use it has to be turned off because the person who sleeps in the room next to our office can hear it all night long. I don't expect it will last very long.
