Can't go wrong with Stanley
After dealing with cheaper made tapes, I finally got this one. This is leaps and bounds above other tapes. It is easy to operate, easy to read and retracts well. The housing is very tough and well built. I've dropped it a few times with no adverse reactions. It is accurate and does the job.

nice pocket tape measure
Feels like a sturdy little tape measure. Using them to set up and adjust custom suspension components and check tire size. These little tape measures last for years typically. I only need to replace them after one gets ran over or dropped, thrown, tossedfor the 5000th+ time.

Great value for large work and more-or-less accurate measurements
Good for heavy-duty carpentry/construction work, but man, could this be better. Good features: the tape-lock switch is rugged, the markings on the tape (which is one-inch wide) are clear and easy to read in low light, and there is a helpful marking indicating the lower-edge length of the casing at 3" (and that is accurate). It's made in the US. The spring inside is really robust, so the tape happily retracts quickly, which is nice for the impatient worker. The tape itself is highly curled, so that it maintains its stiffness over long stretches - but this is both a feature and a bug, since it requires you to tip the edge of the tape down to mark precise lengths. This model has only imperial markings, not metric; again, that is both a feature and a bug: it helps to have consistent markings on both sides, but sometimes you need metric measurements, so in that case, you will need a combination measure. The not-so-good features, although not deal-breakers for this price: the case is made of plastic (it's sturdy, and it's made to look and feel like steel, but it ain't!); the tape-lock feature requires a fair amount of force to secure tightly. The truly annoying problem is that the tape lock mechanism, to my mind, is backwards: the tape should automatically lock at all times, so that the user can retract the tape when he/she wants. Why would you want it any other way? Why, Stanley, why? Personally, I wish there was a low-priced alternative offered by Stanley that would switch these features, and could be packaged together: this one, plus another 10 foot measure that has imperial+metric markings, with a self-locking tape that is much flatter.

Cheaper Local
Great tape measure, but normally you can purchase a 25’ one of these cheaper at your local Home Depot.
