After a severe skin infection recently, my surgeon, and wound care doctors all recommended organic cocoa butter to help sooth the blistered and peeling skin from the skin what looked like burns from the inflammation from the infection. So I ordered this particular brand and have been delighted with it. I did NOT want any type of additives and so chose this one as it is pure cocoa butter. This is a very solid piece of cocoa butter, but I use a tongue depressor or a wooden spoon (from ice cream bars) to scrape what I need each day and then I press the shavings into the palm of my hand and let them soften until it is spreadable on my legs. I am not contaminating the product in the jar by putting my hands in it, just using the wooden stick or whatever you wish to use, and then depositing the amount I want into my hand. I have found this to work well. Some other online suggestions didn't seem like they would be something I wanted to do and this has worked out very easily and well for me. If you are looking for a lotion then you do not want this product. But if you want a pure product with no additives to possibly make your problem worse if using for medical reasons than this is perfect. There is a lovely scent of cocoa or as most people say, "chocolate" for a short time, and to me, it is aroma therapy. It is a really good scent/odor to me and not overpowering. No one has ever asked me what I have on for a scent. This product goes a long way as you do not need much to get the soothing relief that you need.I would definitely recommend this product especially to anyone who cannot use the ingredients added to most other creams and lotions containing cocoa butter.

Ive literally become addicting to this cocoa butter. It smells like chocolate and it feels so good. It also soaks into your skin well. It softens your rough and dry skin so very well!! Im actually shaving at it in the container with scissors or small knife. If you do it this way, please be very careful not to cut yourself. It comes hard in the jar. So, if you do heat it in hot water you should not let the butter get to hot because when you overheat oils they can lose their beneficial qualities. I wouldnt advise microwaving this. Its in a plastic container so that plastic will leach out into your butter. Yuck! Who wants plastic in it? Not me..so I would advise heating in a double pan boiler. Put your empty dry pan in a pan of boiling water and then place the plastic container in the empty dry pan. Its very easy and no plastic leaching out into product.

First, I use this as a face moisturizer and it works great. That being said, it is true the cocoa butter is very hard. I place it in a pan ontop of the stove, and melt it. (I don't believe in microwaves). I then transfer the melted cocoa butter into a small mason jar. The next day, however, the butter is rock solid again. My solution is to run very hot water onto the glass mason jar bottle with the lid closed......just enough to get a 15-20 drops. A little goes a LONG way! My skin loves it......even more than pure vitamin E oil! Everyone's skin will differ, but my skin becomes less rough and dry using the cocoa butter as opposed to the vitamin E oil. The whole process of melting the cocoa butter may SEEM tiresome, but all it takes is a minute with hot running water (for a 15-20 drops) and about 5 minutes for 10 ounce mason jar. Other "soft" cocoa butter is melted, but also has preservatives (chemicals) added. I'd rather buy this truly organic product instead of the other chemically "enhanced" brands. I choose quality over speed, personally.

UPDATE. THIS PRODUCT COMES ROCK HARD! ITS SUPPOSED TO BE THIS WAY! Please do your research before buying products you know nothing about. After reading many reviews people really don’t have a clue on what they’re buying and don’t do their research then give the product a negative review because of lack of knowledge from the buyer. This is how cocoa butter is supposed to be. There is nothing wrong with this product or any other cocoa butter. You have to melt it down into an oil, or chop off a piece and rub it in your hands. The warmth of your skin will soften it. If you want something softer, try shea butter.Shea butter doesn’t smell like cocoa. It has a slight nutty scent. Cocoa butter is great for making home made lotions, body wash, chap sticks, skin care or using it on its own. It’s great for your face and eye lashes to help them grow. Mascara dries out your lashes. They should be conditioned too time to time. You can also use it in your hair as a treatment. Leave in overnight on split ends then SHAMPOO out the next day. It will leave you hair greasy looking if you don’t wash it out.I've been looking to find pure cocoa butter and I Finally found it. I received it in the mail today. I used a spoon to take a chunk out and rubbed it on my arms as it melted it rubbed in pretty good. It made my skin super smooth and Smells amazing! I wish it was in a thicker plastic jar or glass, that way it's easier to get out without breaking the container. I will buy this product again. I had two day shipping with prime and it was delivered on time.

This is the first time I've purchased raw cocoa butter, and overall I'm pretty satisfied with the product I received. I only gave it 4 stars because it is extremely hard - yes I know it's supposed to be somewhat hard - but I literally have to take a steak knife to it, scrape away some shavings, then scoop that out and melt it in order to use it. It also had some weird white bumps all over the top. Again, I don't know if that's normal or not. It didn't smell bad like some others complain about, so I took a leap of faith that it was OK to use. All that being said, once melted and mixed into my home remedies I make with it it's very nice and works well. I purchased Shea butter from this same company and love it. Glad I got resealable containers, too.
