Does the clear glaze have to be Amaco? I mix my own because I prefer a more matte finish.

you can use your own clear but if you are looking at any Amaco tests for what your results would be, then use the Amaco to match those results.

Yes, they are all safe for food. Most say low fire, but I have fired all of them to cone 6 with no problem. Reds may fade out some

I haven’t tried them for Underglaze transfers. I guess it might work if you make your colors strong enough. I see no reason why not.

Can you fire to cone 5 with thesr?

Yes. I experienced a bit of fading but if you're looking for soft colors it works well.
