Cold Quarry: A Codi Sanders Thriller

A friend recommended Brent Ladd’s last book, and I never got to it, so when Cold Quarry popped onto my radar, I grabbed it. Now I see why it was recommended! I love this well-researched, allegedly fictional account of a real-life unsolved event! The book reads like a well thought out action movie that might have really happened! Every character interests me. I love this story and am excited this is a series so I can spend more time with one of my favorite heroines of all time; bad*ss, yet genuinely human special agent Codi Sanders. I am binge-readin' the whole series!

Couldn't put it down. Clean (no bad language, not violent or sexually graphic) suspense with this caliber writing and research is difficult to find. Definitely one you could gift to anyone and they will be up late to finish it! It reads like you're watching a movie. Actually it probably should be made into a movie.

Tons going on in this thrilling ride of a book! Lots of memorable characters and scenes! I'd love to mention my favs, but sorry, I won't give any spoilers. The descriptions are so vivid, you can picture them -- it's almost like watching a film. The action scenes are cool, and the way the story is woven together with elements of the past and present is exceptional. Strong writing, unique characters, and major fun all the way through.

Ladd builds a strong foundation for this complex thriller that keeps you guessing throughout. The terrorist threat feels ripped from the headlines, with a unique, inventive, and terrifying twist. The relationship between the two agents, Codi and Joel, continues to develop as they battle for their lives through one seemingly inescapable situation after another, en route to saving the world and solving a decades-old cold case.

Brent has a gift for confiscating your attention and drawing you deeper into a balance of thrilling history with a fictional twist. This balance makes the story unique, consuming and come alive. Codi Sanders, the lead character, definitely beats to her own drummer. But she has the heart of a lion, patience deficit and unpredictability that keeps the story moving at break neck speed while the reader holds their breath. What fun!
