I got exactly what I paid for. It came sealed in plastic and it is an authentic military issue goretex bivy sack. It is very spacious and I can tell already it will help add warmth for winter camping. It fits my winter sleep system inside and it isn't as heavy as I thought it would be. The zippers are great and easy to use. It doesn't zip all the way, but a velcro piece on the hood helps to close it.No bug protection but this will help ventilating off some moisture for condensation control. I plan to use this with a tarp in winter. Or in my tent on really cold fall nights where it gets really warm during the day.Great product. I might modify it with a tie out point above my face to keep it off me when I sleep on my back, but it's not that big of a deal. It feels super durable and it can be machine washed, which is also a big plus. If you're looking for a bivy sack for colder nights where bugs won't be a problem, get this. It is also easily modifiable and I've seen people sewin bug netting and tie out points to make a well ventilated one man bivy like tent for warmer weather.I fit a 23 inch wide sleeping pad inside with no problem and there was room to spare. I also stacked my pad on top of my Klymit X-Frame to make sort of an ultralight cot and there was still plenty of room. Maybe I can use a trekking pole collapsed to its smallest size to hold the fabric off my head, but I am a side sleeper mostly so again, not worried about the claustrophobic feel that most if not all bivies have. I will update with pictures later of my setup.

In my opinion having a Gore-Tex shell over your sleeping bag can make all the difference between misery and comfort. If you pack your bag inside the Gore-Tex shell you can pull it out and deploy it rapidly in the event of an injury (where it's important to keep the victim sufficiently warm to off-set the effects of shock). In the event that the weather turns very bad and you don't have time to find shelter or erect a tent, you can shelter inside your bag knowing that no matter how hard it may rain you'll still retain insulation and keep dry. And if you are inside a tent, the extra insulation provided by the shell will enable your bag to serve you at a lower temperature than its tog rating. Conversely if the night is warmer than you expect you can sleep on top of the bag but under the shell. All in all I always recommend putting your sleeping bag inside a good Gore-Tex shell, and this one is cheap and reliable.

I purchased the "like new" item. Indeed, they are as advertised. In fact, I can only find one small blemish that could happen to a new item in 10 minutes of use. Good quality, excellent value. As far as function. I am 6'1" and fit into this bivy with a cold-weather sleeping bag and light weight mattress pad with room to spare. The zipper is heavy duty with a heavy duty snap cover over the zipper. The fabric is the real deal-canvas. Yes, it is certainly a bit heavier than the other bivy's made of tent material. Would purchase again.

This Bivy cover was well used with alittle bit of damage, one missing and broken snap. Had a soldiers sock still inside. I cleaned it, washed it and sewed a small hole. To use with your sleeping bag insert your bag and stay dry. I'm ok with it, it's advertised as used and for the price it was acceptable.Fast shipping.

I bought this as well for camping and found this as the best price. I used this over the weekend in a Hammock it remarkably kept me warm and toasty. You will also find out that Amazon has the best price. So just buy it here and don't waste your time. Shopping somewhere else for price would be a waste of time. I also used a reg mummy sleeping bag to put inside of it.
