Gopher Reacher

This is my third Gopher. I still have my second one, which lasted me longer than the first, but one of the ends finally came off (however, I did make a makeshift end -improvising ya know-& it works just as good except for picking up really thin, flat stuff!). Anyway, I find this thing SO handy --esp in picking things up off the floor as my fingers sometimes don't grip too well...great for reaching things in closets too. You can't use it on anything real heavy of course, or bulky, but it is a handy lil gadget! I use to be able to get it at Walgreens, but can't find it around anymore. So checked on line, and there're plenty of other gripper type items, but I'm just partial to this particular Gopher. Should've know would be at Amazon!

Everyone 60 years of age and beyond should have a reacher and the Gopher is the best available. It grabs and HOLDS items clasped between sizeable rubber cups. A lot of similar products lack this simple, effective feature, resulting in dropped cans and inability to capture the desired item in the first place. It folds for efficient storage in the kitchen...or you can leave it full length, ready-to-use while lazing or confined in bed.

I use one of these in the house, and one outside. It makes picking up almost everything you run across in yardwork easy. Before I started using it outdoors, my back would be really hurting after a day of yardwork. It make look funny to people driving by and it might take a few minutes longer to complete the job, but I don't have to hobble into the house at the end of the day anymore. It's also really useful for the top shelves in the utility room, not to mention the pantry...

My hands are super weak but I still find this grabber easy to use and get to the stuff I can’t. I love it for my sewing/craft room and highly recommend it for any craft room. There’s always something falling behind a table or rolling under one and no one has time (or the knees) for that. So save yourself a lot of aggravation and get one.

This is a flawed product! My review is late, and I think I reviewed it earlier as having come working but in a beat up box which surprised me that the item inside survived at all.In any case, after about 30 days, and from completely sporadic and normal usage (i.e. papers and small not-too-heavy objects from - using it - reachable places, floor or nightstand, etc.) ... first one, and then in a few weeks more, the other, rubber pads came off. Without them the item is close to useless, or fully so.The screws that hold the rubber pads strip right through the defective plastic seating and fall off. I have tried taping them on... but that gets a poor and slippery grip to have tape covering the rubber pads. I will try some kind of superglue, but have little faith it will work, plus just having to get that will be somewhat of a hardship and surely some cost, and that's just hoping it works to correct the result of the defect. I'm sure it's got to be common, as the heaviest thing I lifted was a half filled small can of soda, but almost always just papers that get onto the floor, or from a farther place like the desk or whatever I"m using it for to save effort of.
