A stunning novel with characters that come to life on the page
I flew through Samantha King's novel over a weekend while on a yoga retreat. I was completely absorbed by Holly and Marley's story and the bond between them. Samantha captured the warped relationship between Holly and her best friend Amy and the tension between Holly and her husband Jordan very well. There was not a second where I questioned the authenticity of the characters. There were also plenty of twists and reveals to keep you hooked and the plot moving, particularly in the second half of the novel. Very well written!

The story is based on family secrets, and the damage that has been caused
I really enjoyed this book, it took me a little while to get into it, I found the main character Holly a little odd, every relationship was complex, including the one with her husband, father, mother and seven year old daughter Marley - the story is based on family secrets, and the damage that has been caused. Holly is likeable but seems incapable of asking straightforward questions, maybe we are all a little like that, for ease but sometimes the hard questions do need to be asked.Entertaining story and characters, look forward to reading more from Samantha King.

Slow burner
There's no question that this book is well written with believable characters and an engaging story. The author writes with a lot of foreboding and sets a good atmosphere. At the end of the book all your questions are answered. The only negative I would give is that this book is slow. Really slow. As in a snail would win in a race. A couple of times I thought about giving up with it but I was engaged enough by the story to keep going. It would have helped if some of the questions the author answers at the end, were answered half way through. It wouldn't have taken away from the story as it was a bit overwhelming to have so much information at the end of the book.

Couldn’t put this book down - brilliant ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Samantha King’s new novel is brilliant, I couldn’t put it down. A dark domestic family drama which unravels over 7 days through 7 notes - secrets kept buried are revealed and take the reader through twists and turns to a devastating finale. Highly recommended.

Loved it! I read this in one sitting and was utterly captivated from beginning to end! Holly and Marley’s story had me gripped and questioning everything we were told. I didn’t know who was keeping secrets and who was telling the truth... just fabulous!!

Never got the last twist
The story was written as from holley to her daughter and it took awhile for me to get used to the perspective. Otherwise it was a true mystery story where nothing was as it seems and I was often taken by surprise. When the last reveal was alluded to, I could not imagine what else there was to know. Without spoiling the ending, it was truly an enjoyable, satisfying read.

not what I was expecting
A very tangled story, with morality from a different world than mine. And such different lifestyles, wealthy teachers(?), a boating chef and lawyers.

Beautiful
So many twists and turns. So many "what ifs". This was an awesome book filled with love, loss, and misunderstanding in so many ways.

The Secret Keeper's Daughter
This story shows why keeping secrets are terrible. Your imagination is almost always more scary than the actual truth. Very, very sad.

There will be tears
It was a little slow for me at the beginning. Wasn't getting the flashbacks, but I'm glad I kept going.
