I know that can be super confusing. Let me help shed some light on it. This listing is a “probiotic listing”, meaning that there are 4 choices of probiotics. Human Oral, Human Topical, Dog Oral, Cat Oral. All come from the same probiotic base but each product differs slightly according to the needs of each. For example, for cats, we isolated certain strains that are preferred for felines, and the same process was followed for dogs and humans.

Amazon unfortunately doesn’t separate the questions according to each product. And because most consumers purchase the human oral probiotic, the majority of questions are about that product. I have four cats and two water fountains for them. Two of the cats had sensitive digestive systems and the litterbox duties were challenging at times. For the last 3 years I have put these probiotics in both fountains. Since I started using Mary Ruth's liquid probiotics for cats, all of the cats, including the two with occasional issues, are doing well and it's rare for there to be any more digestion issues.

How long does your cat probiotic shelf life last opened and is this good for hairballs too?

Best to refrigerate; this product would have no effect on hairballs. There are products sold on Amazon specifically to help hairballs to pass by way of lubication & possibly stimulation: many are gels or pastes that come in squeeze tubes; & my cat was prescribed by a Veterinarian a sticky syrup medication called "Laxatone", to be used in a small amount daily, that I was told helps break up the hair strands & helps the body to pass them through the digestive system.

This product is for cats and dogs -- why are the reviews about human probiotics?  Are there any reviews about how his product works for cats and dogs?
