Happy with Mac Print Shop 2
Okay, everyone who LOVED Broderbund's Print Shop for PC, you will like this version designed for the Mac. I have the Mac Pro Book, updated to the Sierra version. I had absolutely no trouble downloading it from the DVD that I ordered from Amazon. The loading was smooth as glass, and it prompted me to update the program as soon as I registered it. So, I went from the Mac Print Shop 2 to the Mac Print Shop 3 in one easy step. I have only done a few things on it as I've only had it for less than a week, but I wish I had ordered it long ago. I don't know why the negative reports. Of course it doesn't have all of the clip art that came with original version in the early 90's (when we had about six DVD's in the package), but it is adequate. I have not tried to insert a picture from iphoto yet, but from what I read, although it wouldn't do that in previous versions, it will do that now. Also, I tried to change the color of one of the frames, and up popped a message saying I needed to install Twain. Hmmm, maybe I do, but if I do that, instructions indicate that Twain must be installed first and then I'll have to reinstall Print Shop. So, I haven't done that yet....and I might not. I do know that there is a "Twain" installed in my Mac for use of the printer. Wondering if I need two "Twains." I'll try to update this review as I work with the program. I just LOVE Print Shop. I think it is easy and fits the bill for most occasions. Buy it; I don't think you will be disappointed!

MacKiev Print Shop Does Mac Graphics the Right Way!
I have used MacKiev Print Shop for years, and it is my opinion that Apple should buy this graphics engine and incorporate it into the Mac Operating System!!! I usually don't access the clip art or photos that come with it. I just drag in my photos, backgrounds and clip art that I want and then mess around with them.As a publisher who has used Pagemaker and Indesign, this program has been the "little engine that could", helping me to easily create graphics as needed which I can then copy and paste into the other programs. You can "export" to a variety of graphic formats also. You can "stretch" the background to fit the size you have chosen, you can "layer" things and "group" things however you want and send them forward or back with the click of a button. You can apply "effects" that include edges, masks, glows, shadows with a click of a button also. There's a great "Headline" text feature that gives you pre-mades and lets you customize them anyway you want. The regular text feature lets you change the leading in your lines & apply glows to make the text stand out from photos. This program makes Scrapbooking so very easy, nothing esoteric to learn, just start dragging things in and clicking buttons. I make title pages for slide shows/movies with this program, DVD covers, just finished my Christmas letters & envelopes. It has all the usual templates to use, calendars, business cards, labels, etc.If you want a gazillion pieces of clip art this probably isn't for you, but if you want to create and publish and play with graphics/photos, this is a great, easy to use program.I just ordered it to give to my sister for Christmas, I think she will have just as much fun with it as I have!

Better clip art
I use Print Shop primarily for making cards, posters, projects, etc. I use it for birthday cards, babyshower cards, thank you cards, informational posters, brochures, etc. What disappoints me the most is the clip art selection!! It's selection of clip art is very minimal!! I love making funny cards or humorous posters for friends/family. I often have to go on-line to fund any kind of funny cartoon type clip art. Most of the clip art in the program is real photographs. If I wanted a real photograph, I would use my own! I used an old version of Print Master for 10+ years. I recently upgraded to a Mac and needed a clip art/card making program. I understand there are just clip art programs available, but I prefer an all in one package. Clip art on the internet often comes at a cost. The other annoying thing is when making a card, you can choose to either do just the right side of inside the card or both sides. I once selected just the right side, but realized I was writing too much and would need both sides. I did not see a way to change my selection without starting completely over. On the old Printmaster, I just had to move the text box over to the left half of the page and create a new text box on the right. Those are my two pet peeves with this program. It's easy to use and has lots of project options.

A little disappointed, as time goes on
Believe it or not, one of the reasons it took me years to switch from PC to Mac was the Print Shop series of card-making programs that I had used for 15 or more years...I couldn't find it's equivalent on Mac. This isn't an apples-to-apples program with my PC version (I was using Print Shop 23 Deluxe for PC). I remember, when I was still on my PC and would get update notices, I once purchased a related program, The Print Shop Professional 2.0, and this product is far more like that. It doesn't have near the features and capabilities of Print Shop 23 Deluxe (or whatever version they are on now). I make all my own greeting, sympathy, birthday, Christmas, etc. cards and had never found another program that allowed me to make cards so easily in the sizes and of the quality I wanted. I use my own photos and write my own scripts. I don't use this program for any of the other many functions: calendars, etc.. This is definitely your program if you want a simple, easy-to-use program and want to use their pre-formed templates. It just doesn't live up to the functionality of Print Shop 23.

SOFTWARE NOT WORKING ON EL CAPITAN
I am returning this software - The Print Shop 2 - for a refund, today. I have been attempting, over about a week, to use it on an Apple iMac running El Capitan. However, I have been unable to edit text in a text block, as per the instructions provided in the accompanying handbook/on line help section. I have liaised with MacKiev via email and, in fairness to them, they have tried to resolve the issue. However, having followed their instructions, including removing various folders from my iMac, the editing issue has continued. Essentially, having double clicked a text block, or selected 'edit text', I am NOT presented with a cursor that allows me to select relevant text in order to edit it - e.g. change font size or colour. This has always been the case whenever I have imported a graphic (jpeg image) into the text block. I'm not sure why this is happening, and nor are MacKiev, but without the ability to edit text, the software is not practicable. I can only conclude, in terms of my own personal expereince, that the software has not been effectively adjusted in line with Apple's relatively new operating system. Others may not have found this to be an issue, but unfortunately, I have. The two stars are for MacKiev's support in this matter.

If only life were this easy
As the price of birthday/christmas/anniversary/mother's day cards etc etc increase, and there seems to be an ever increasing number of occasions when a card is needed then why not save money by creating and printing your own. To this end MacKiev's "The Print Shop Ver 2" is the ideal product. I bought and use the Mac version and to say it is simplicity itself to use is understating the obvious. There are 19 different projects on offer when you open the program including the inevitable card design to letterheads, tags for presents, calendars, post-it notes (c) etc etc plus a "blank page." Each project has three sections on offer, 1) Everything done for you - just print it out 2) Presenting the user with a basic page and offer suggestions as to how to fill in the missing bits to 3) A basic template leaving everything to user to add in. For the first two sections there are a large number of graphics on offer plus you can always access and insert your own clip-art or photos. However I have yet to find a way to import text from Office or iWord. It took me all of two minutes to produce a birthday card from scratch following the very easy loading of the program onto my iMac computer. A program cannot come any easier than that.Apart from the inability to insert text files I can find no fault with the program.Peter Holme

WOW ! FAB COOL 2010 EDITION!
The Print Shop 2 for Mac is a brilliant powerful piece of software!I didn't know whether to order this but I'm delighted I did!I was looking for software to produce my own greeting cards as it was getting expensive buying online cards. I had heard mixed reports about Print Shop 2 but this 2010 edition seems to have improved on other editions. It comes with an excellent & comprehensive user guide and there are also free updates available on line. Any way I must go as I've got some cards to make!

A cracking piece of Software
Have used windows print shop for years and found it very good, changed to Mac and it was a pain running it in a window, saw this and bought it. Its a wonderful program, with a learning curve to climb but well worth the effort. Creates really classy cards only dependent on your imagination. Imports photos from IPhoto without the slightest problem and has an excellent range of texts and fonts. A really good buy !

Smashing
I had Microsoft Publisher previously, then I was given a Mac Book for Christmas. To tell you the truth I missed publisher then. So looked around for the Mac version. This print shop 2 does not quite fill the bill, but it is a good second.
